Garver Feed Mill
Not only is it the venue for our wedding, but a great venue just off the bike path for brunch, drinks, or pizza on the patio.
The Biergarten at Olbrich Park
John and Casey's volleyball teams meet up here in the summer before and after games for a bier or Bavarian pretzel in the park with views of the downtown skyline across the lake.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Beautiful gardens to wander through, just steps away from Garver Feed Mill.
Wisconsin State Capitol
The Capitol itself is great and all, but if you're going to see it on Saturday, you might as well just walk around it for the Dane County Farmer's Market, just like John and Casey have done on countless Saturdays. Sample the great local produce.... and cheese, lots and lots of cheese.
Memorial Union Terrace
The location of our first date. This UW-Madison union is a great place for beers, deep-fried cheese curds, live music, or just sitting by the lake with friends. It's a necessary pit stop every time John and Casey go out sailing! If it rains, just step inside the German-themed der Rathskeller where John and Casey watch many Badger football and basketball games!
The Coopers Tavern
One of our favorite downtown pubs. John's parents love this place too, so he took them here for lunch when he first told them he was going to propose.
Colectivo Coffee - On The Square
The best coffee in Wisconsin (if you ask John). It brings him a little reminder of Milwaukee each time.
State Street
1-1/2 mile-long pedestrian mall with shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. You can frequently catch John and Casey strolling up and down this beating heart of Madison's downtown.
The Plaza Tavern
This classic Wisconsin "dive bar" was the location of our second date -- and our first kiss! (after a few Long Island iced teas)...
Lucille
Our favorite pizza place! The Capitol views aren't too bad either!
The Old Fashioned
Classic Wisconsin farm-to-table fare, with its namesake being Wisconsin's (and John's) drink of choice.
James Madison Park
Our evening strolls usually involve a pass through this park to watch the sunset.
Eno Vino Downtown
Upscale wine and tapas bar with a rooftop patio and beautiful views of the Capitol Building.

One of our favorite brunch places! Nothing beats splitting sweet and savory dishes of Tex-Mex cuisine.

Our neighborhood brewery just a few blocks from our house. Try the Pulp Culture!

Local craft brewery and gastropub that is our regular meet-up place after league ultimate frisbee games in the summertime.
Brittingham Boats
John and Casey spent many summers volunteering here for kayaking outings with Madison SCI. Rent canoes, kayaks or SUPs.
The Boathouse
Great place for brunch on the lake shore.
Picnic Point
Another stop on our first date. John brought Casey to this nature preserve for a bonfire with friends.
Capital City Trail
John and Casey frequently run this trail. Rent a bike (or B-Cycle) and take this path on loops around downtown (it connects to the Wingra Creek and Southwest Commuter trails). Or if you're really feeling adventurous take it straight out to the Garver Feed Mill!
Young Blood Beer Company
This new brewery downtown has a constant rotation of craft beers, which basically kept us sustained during the lock-down phase of the pandemic.
Heritage Tavern
We lived in an apartment above this restaurant for two years and loved their cocktails, their German schnitzel, burgers, and of course: deviled eggs!
