Wedding Party

The Wedding Website of Casey Graves and Colin McVicker
We are so thankful for the people who make our lives so rich and sweet. Selecting these members of our wedding party was so meaningful to us. They have supported, loved, and challenged us throughout our single lives, and we hope they will do the same throughout our marriage.

Julianne & Brett Shivers

Matron of Honor and Bridesman

Julianne and Casey became friends in 2014 when they attended the same church community group. One of their earliest hangouts was a Chipotle dinner, to which they still refer today as that dinner "when we were still only kind-of friends." Over months and years of laughter, conversations, road trips, and a mutual affection for all things books, BBC, and Harry Potter, "kind-of friends" became "best friends." When Brett came along and proposed to Julianne in 2015, Julianne and Casey made a pact to have dinner together once a week, so that they could keep their strong friendship going, no matter what life changes may occur. Now, so many dinners and seasons of Doctor Who later, Brett, Julianne, and Casey get to welcome Colin into their weekly dinner tradition.

Chase & Brittany McVicker

Best Man and Woman

Chase and Colin met in a hospital in Portland, Oregon, one day and immediately became best friends. Probably the most stunning fact about Chase and Colin’s relationship is that neither of them can remember ever fighting. Colin has the utmost respect for Chase, not only because he is intelligent, successful, and funny, but also because he is generous with his time and resources and has been a repeated source of counsel and help to Colin. Chase and Brittany have been instrumental in Colin and Casey’s relationship. While Casey and Colin were dating and Colin lived in Houston, “C&B” hosted Casey whenever she visited. Colin and Casey spent much of their dating relationship playing in C&B’s backyard with Colin’s nephews and going on outings in Houston with their family.

Kaylee & Nathan Parker

Matron of Honor and Bridesman

Casey's friendship with Kaylee and Nathan ignited at a big group camping trip in 2016, while Kaylee and Nathan were still dating. A few months later, Kaylee moved into the infamous Donnybrook house with Casey and a small family of raccoons who occupied one of the bedroom walls for a time. Casey and Kaylee grew close during their time as roommates, especially when Kaylee got engaged to Nathan and asked Casey to be her maid of honor. They often laugh together about how many of their hangouts have ended up turning into tearful expressions of friendship ("I just love you so much!", etc.) Since Kaylee and Nathan became "the Parkers" in 2017, they have continued to be two of Casey's closest friends, sharing her love of hospitality, theme parties, movie nights, and bringing people together.

Peter Mockary

Groomsman

Peter and Colin met in college in Los Angeles. They played brass in the symphonic band, took numerous business classes together, and spent many afternoons together studying for their CPA exams at Priscilla’s coffee shop next to Warner Bros studios. After living abroad in New Zealand, Peter returned to LA where he now runs his own accounting practice and is the accounting controller for LA’s Best, the largest after-school program in Los Angeles. Since graduating college, Colin has moved 973 times – Peter has helped Colin move his earthly possessions practically every time (including to the Cayman Islands). Needless to say, Peter cares about practically helping those in need and is the embodiment of service to others.

Candace Veatch

Bridesmaid

Candace and Casey have been friends and coworkers for almost ten years! You can find them at Hubbard Middle School by following the sound of extremely loud laughter. All of their shared students know that "Ms. Veatch and Ms. Graves are like, BFFs." Other lesser known facts about Candace and Casey are that they are the most compatible road trip partners imaginable and that they once won third place in a lip sync battle at their school Christmas party. From the beginning of Casey's relationship with Colin, Candace has been his biggest fan; she has even helped him set up little secret surprises for Casey at school.

David Gibbs

Groomsman

David and Colin met in the church nursery when Colin was 1 year old and have maintained their friendship for 30 years! David is one of the most driven and laid-back people Colin knows, and Colin seeks to glean from David’s relationship with his family, commitment to God and His Word, service to his church and community, and professional achievements. Long drives, long flights, and long phone conversations have kept Colin and David’s relationship strong over the past three decades. Colin is thrilled to attend David and Rachel’s wedding in May!

Jake Ross

Bridesman

Casey met Jake through his parents, who have welcomed Casey into their home and family since her first year in Tyler. In a family culture in which the words "You're so stupid" literally mean "I love you," Jake has always made Casey feel right at home. So much so that when Casey bought a house in 2019, and Jake moved back to Tyler in need of a roommate, it was a no-brainer. Not only is Jake almost insufferably funny, but he is a genuinely caring listener, reliable friend, and trusted support. He and Casey have remained roommates and friends even through COVID, quarantine, and the Texas snowpocalypse.

Chad Murff

Groomsman

Chad and Colin met at church in Washington State when Colin was in junior high. Since then, Chad and Colin have moved to different parts of the country and world multiple times, and Chad has remained a faithful mentor to Colin throughout this time. Colin has repeatedly relied on Chad for counsel regarding work, church, and relationships and is thankful for Chad’s commitment to God’s Word, his own family, and the church while not compromising his own career goals and personal ambition to evangelize the lost in the workplace. While dating, Colin and Casey spent numerous afternoons with Chad and his family playing board games, watching soccer games, and playing miniature golf…and hope this will continue once they are married!

Justin Washington

Groomsman

Justin and Colin met in the back row at a church conference years ago and pinky-swore that they would secretly be friends but never be seen together in public again. Justin may quite literally be the funniest person on earth. Formerly a stand-up comedian, he now works in casting administration for Walt Disney in Los Angeles and married Summer last year! Justin has always had Colin’s back, evidenced by his weekly phone calls with Colin over the past two years. Justin even flew to visit Colin in Texas during the 2020 ice storm when the state was without power and heat!
