The Celebration of a Lifetime

July 30th 2022

While COVID forced a change in plans, we knew that celebrating with all our friends and family could always wait. We knew that we could get legally married, but we never wanted to sacrifice the opportunity to celebrate the event properly. We also know that you are all up for the challenge, and will help us make our 2-year anniversary/vow renewal ceremony the celebration of a lifetime. We can't wait to return to San Luis Obispo in 2022 ready to properly hug and celebrate with all of our loved ones, without a second thought.

The Wedding

2020

Even in the most uncertain of times, love will always find a way. With our immediate family and bridal party present, we officially became Mr. and Mrs. Woods in a very small ceremony on June 27th 2020.

The Proposal

2018

After 8 years together, graduation, our first apartment in San Diego, moving back up to the Bay Area, four more apartments, 3 guinea pigs, one dog, and countless adventures, Casey asked Christine to take a weekend trip to Napa. Christine was in the middle of graduate school, so getting her to commit to time away from studying and schoolwork wasn't the easiest task. Eventually Casey was able to wear her down enough to convince her to take some time off. A beautiful March day, warm breeze flowing through the car, good music on the radio, the drive up to Napa was memorable in itself. But the day wouldn't continue to go as smoothly as the drive in. At the first winery, after a tasting on a private patio, Christine pointed out how dead the vines were, and Casey knew it wasn't time to pull the ring from his pocket. The second winery was smaller than expected and granted no privacy. On the drive back to the hotel, Casey knew he had to seize the moment. On a balcony overlooking historic downtown Napa, Casey got down on one knee and managed to say almost none of the things he had spent so much time planning to say, instead fumbling his words until he finally got to "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I want to raise a family with you. Will you marry me?"

How we met

2009

At first, we were just two quiet freshmen who sat next to each other at San Diego State orientation. Things got awkward when we realized we were standing in line next to each other (with our dads) waiting for our student ID cards later that day. Dads being dads, they introduced themselves to one another the same day we met. I don’t think anyone would have guessed they were meeting their future daughter and son in-law. Fast forward to our first classes, of the countless Communications classes that all freshman are required to take, we end up sitting right next to each other. By then, we were both pledging in our Greek houses: Casey rushing a Sigma Nu and Christine becoming a Gamma Phi Beta. At some point, we exchanged numbers for class related reasons (of course). Christine saved Casey’s number in her phone with the name “Casey Sig Nu Comm”, which is how it still shows up in her phone each time he calls or texts today.
