Denver is famous for its nightlife, with its bustling bars, music, and art district. You can find anything to do down here, from shopping, gaming, escape rooms, bars and taverns, breweries, famous food, concerts, sports, museums, and tattoo shops!

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve

The Great Sand Dunes is a National Park featuring the tallest dunes in North America, with lots of surrounding ecosystems, including wetlands, grasslands, lakes, and forests. Climb the dunes and sled down, hike, or even camp at this beautiful location!

Garden of the Gods

Visit this famous location that features real red rock formations and the thrill of giant cliffs and valleys. Fun activities here include hiking, sightseeing, jeep and segway tours, trolley and bike tours, and rock climbing!

Boulder

Boulder is great if you're looking for an outdoor adventure. At the base of the foothills, you get beautiful mountain views no matter what you do. Boulder offers breweries, wineries, museums, art, Pearl Street Mall, biking, and hiking. Some recommended spots are Avery Brewing, which is one of our favorite breweries, as well as hiking in Chattaqua.

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park is a historical and sacred place, where the ancestral Pueblo people built their cliff dwellings into the cliffs and mesas of the area. Hiking and tours of the dwellings are the most common activities to take part in here.

Aspen

Aspen is nestled into the mountains of White River National Forest and has an abundance of offerings when it comes to activities. Skiing is extremely common here, as well as shops, food, winter recreation, and hiking. Through September and October, the changing of leaves gives way to some gorgeous spots to leaf-peep as well!

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre

Red Rocks is a famous concert venue that offers several activities to take part in. Hiking, seeing concerts, light shows for the holidays, and even beautiful drives are just some of the things there are to do here, in addition to exploring the shops at the base of the rocks and some great food places as well!

Iron Mountain Hot Springs

Iron Mountain Hot Springs offers a large array of natural hot springs along with cocktails, beers, and great food. Spend your day here soaking away your worries in the 32 pools they offer, and then spend your night exploring Glenwood Springs, where the famous Hotel Colorado is. We went here on our first staycation, and it remains one of our favorite places to visit!

Durango Train Depot

This is one place we have on our list for future visits! Climb aboard the Durango and Silverton Railroad and travel in up to four different classes along the base of the mountains on a train tour that lasts all day! Drinks and food are offered for an additional cost, and in the winter, they feature a Polar Express ride!

Grand Junction

While it can be overlooked, Grand Junction has a large array of offerings for anyone wanting an authentic taste of Colorado. Things like hiking, running with wild horses, rafting, exploring museums, skiing, camping, golfing, and visiting wineries are just some of the activities you can get into here!

Breckenridge

Breckenridge remains another one of our favorite day getaway spots to visit. You can explore their historic main street, which is home to over 300 shops and boutiques, visit their famous brewery, hike, bike, and even ski in the winter. Breck is a gorgeous town that everyone should experience at least once!

Royal Gorge Bridge & Park

The Royal Gorge is a unique experience in Canon City that offers a park and bridge to hike across and experience, gondola rides, and even a railroad, which will take you along the base of the gorge on a memorable open-air train ride. Easily a one to two-day trip, which is packed with lots of fun activities to experience.

Bailey

Amongst the many things there are to do in Bailey, including visiting wineries along rivers (Aspen Peak Cellars), shopping, zip-lining, hiking, and visiting the Sasquatch Store, it is also one of our favorite places to drive around and leaf-peep during the fall! The drive all the way around is gorgeous!
