For both of us, the first time we met felt like being reunited with a long lost friend. Our first date was at Yanni’s, a small Mediterranean restaurant in Ankeny. We had so many things in common and spent hours sharing life stories of what has shaped us into the man and woman we are today. At first, even though I (Amanda) knew he was quite the catch, I was naturally very cautious and guarded. Lance, on the otherhand was relentless in his pursuit (which was very attractive to me, I might add!) and invited me to attend a family wedding 2 weeks after our first date—where he asked me to be his girlfriend. As we met each other’s family and friends, we felt very encouraged by the affirmations that we were made to be together. Amanda’s dad even invited us over to Italy so that he could officially meet Lance. On our second day in Rome, we walked over to Trevi Fountain in the rain. It was the day before Lance had originally planned to propose (he wanted to propose on Amanda’s birthday) but with such a romantic setting he couldn’t wait any longer. He knew that this was the perfect time to make his move — so he got on one knee right in front of the famous fountain and asked Amanda to be his wife. Of course she said YES! The rest of the story is to be continued as we move to the next stage of our relationship as husband and wife. We can’t wait to celebrate our special day with you!
