Our Story

Our 2nd First Date! When Carter picked me up on November 2, 2017 he gave me a single rose.

Then he drove us out to his favorite pier in Muskegon where we strolled to the end and back before having hot cocoa and KitKats in his car. From the pier, we went to dinner at Red Robin.

After Red Robin, we went to Maplewood Park. Then on the same dock, on the same day (two years later) with the stars shining above us, Carter asked me if I would be his girlfriend once more.

After he asked me, he pulled out a dozen roses which he had hidden on the dock earlier that day. He continues to be one of the sweetest and most romantic men I know.

Our Engagement: On April 22, 2018 after getting home from church, Carter suggested that we take his siblings to the park for a picnic. So we packed a lunch and walked to Maplewood Park.

As we neared the dock, Addie and Eli (Carter's younger siblings), ran off to go "play on the playground" and Hannah (Carter's younger sister) asked Carter for his phone to "take pictures of the lake."

Once on the dock he told me about how he remembered being excited to ask me out the 1st time and then the 2nd time (2 years later), how thrilled he was for another chance with the girl of his dreams.

I became rather suspicious and patted him down (searching for a ring) but found nothing. So he went back to telling me about how lucky he is to have me and how much he loves me.

He got down on one knee, (pulled the ring box out of the lunch box) and asked if I would marry him. Of course, I said yes!

Once he got back up off of his knee, Eli and Addie ran up and gave me two dozen roses and a bouquet of flowers Carter had picked out for me.

We then began walking around the lake. His parents met us part way, and gave us a Bible that Carter had picked out to be our family Bible. He had our names engraved on the front of it.

We proceeded to walk around the lake where we found some of my family waiting for us with a table (set up with fine China) for Carter and I to have lunch.

The family all toasted to a successful marriage for Carter and I. Then our parents prayed over us.

Once our parents finished praying, the family all left so Carter and I could enjoy a nice lunch together by the lake. It was a wonderful surprise and he could not have proposed in a more perfect way!

Six wonderful months together and many more to come!

Off to the beach to swim, watch the sunset, and get some ice cream!
