Although our ceremony will be on the smaller side (120 guests max), and vaccination rates in Allegheny County are fairly high (>60% as of early August), this is an indoor venue. Therefore, in order to celebrate safely, including for those on the guestlist who are kids or immunocompromised, we are asking all eligible in-person attendees (5 and older) to please ensure that you are fully vaccinated (including booster, if eligible) before attending, regardless of prior infection status. If you are choosing to not be vaccinated, please plan to celebrate our wedding in a different capacity. We will also follow the CDC and Allegheny County policies and regulations in place at the time of the event, which may require masking indoors. Worst case, we may need to downsize or postpone the event depending on how the next few months unfold. Expect some additional updates closer to the date via email.
It's too soon to say right now how the omicron variant may affect our wedding plans. We'll continue to monitor how this plays out and will keep everyone updated via email, so please make sure to get your boosters and share a current email address for your party when you RSVP!
We 100% understand that planning ahead is really difficult right now. Please try to give us your best guess by January 19th, and then if your plans change, just get in touch with the bride or groom ASAP so we can stay on top of things. We also recommend keeping cancellation/change fees in mind when booking your travel.
Today, MuseumLab is a wing of the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh designated for older kids and teens ages 10+. But in a former life, the space was originally built in 1890 as the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny, the very first library in the country commissioned by Andrew Carnegie. In the 1970s, the building was saved from being demolished but was subjected to a truly unfortunate remodel (think orange carpets). In 2006, the building was struck by lightning, the clocktower fell through the roof, and the structure fell into disrepair. The Children's Museum purchased the building and stripped away the old remodel, only to discover the original beauty still intact underneath. The museum decided to preserve the building's stunning arches, columns, and mosaic floor, and embrace the beautiful "ruins" of the original structure. Since opening in 2019, MuseumLab has won numerous awards for architecture and design, and we are SO excited for you all to enjoy this funky and unique space.
Yes! (We are getting married in a children's museum, after all.)

Pittsburgh's North Side used to be its own city called Allegheny, and was only annexed as part of Pittsburgh in 1907. This area includes several historic districts, including Deutschtown, the German immigrant neighborhood where Sarah’s great-grandparents grew up, and the beautiful Victorian homes along the Mexican War Streets. But the North Side also has a healthy dose of quirkiness, including Elks Lodge (a dive bar known for weekly banjo night), and fantastic installation art (check out Randyland and the Mattress Factory). Sarah grew up coming to the North Side for sports games with her dad at Heinz Field and PNC Park as well as trips to the museums or Carnegie Science Center with her mom. Fun fact: the list of notable Nor'side residents includes Gertrude Stein, Andy Warhol, Mary Cassatt, Andrew Carnegie, Franco Harris, and the Rooney family of Steelers legend.
