National Elk Refuge
Elk are extremely active in September/ October during breeding season, and you can often hear their bugling calls at dawn and dusk. Elk also begin their Winter migration to the National Elk Refuge during this time. The refuge encompasses 25,000 acres of elk range, entry is free, and you can observe the wildlife from the comfort of your car if you don't feel like walking!
