I originally met Kurt in 2017 because we both worked in the Emergency Department at UK, but we didn’t know much about each other. One day in the Summer of 2018, Kurt and I ended up working in the same area, and I mentioned to my friend Jess how handsome I thought Kurt was, although I never thought it would amount to anything. A couple months later, we both went out to Thursday Night Live in Lexington for a friend’s birthday. I have no shame in owning that I made the first move, holding Kurt’s hand while our friends smiled and cheered us on. We found ourselves dancing the night away at the most romantic basement bar in Lexington, and I knew from that night forward I didn’t want to spend another night without him. Kurt and I have tackled grad school, travel nursing, illnesses, heartbreaks, new jobs, and living thousands of miles away from each other since falling in love in 2018, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. He pulled off the surprise of a lifetime and proposed at the top of Max Patch Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina on April 17, 2021 and surprised me with the best friends and family waiting for us after I said yes. We can’t wait for the rest of our lives together, and are excited to celebrate with you in 2022!
