Our Dads have known each other for over 20 years from work and had always joked about setting us up together. It wasn't until years later, when the timing was right, that we both agreed to go on a blind date with each other. Our first date was at Café Hollander in 2019. After meeting, we instantly felt a connection with one another and talked for hours. Since we met we have been inseparable and have experienced incredible adventures together. We have traveled cross-country on road trips, visited the Smokey mountains, volunteered at our Church and our communities, signed up for 5K races, trained and worked out together, visited friends and family around the country, and went on the most important trip of our lives to Colombia in March 2021. We love and support each other no matter what and we know that God put us in each others' lives for a reason. We push each other to grow stronger in our health, in our relationships with our friends and family, and most importantly in our faith.
The date was March 1st, 2021. We had just arrived at Islas del Rosario, a small group of islands off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia. For weeks prior, Carson had planned where, when, and how he was going to propose to Gabby on this trip. After seeing pictures of the island he knew that this was the place to do it. We had arrived by boat in the morning. The pictures of the islands didn't do the natural beauty justice. The group was met with crystal clear water, sandy beaches, and the friendly people of Colombia. All-day we had swam, played volleyball and snorkeled. With the afternoon setting in Carson took the opportunity to sneak away with Gabby to a private cove, sitting atop a ridge with waves splashing below. Carson sat them down, beginning to reflect on all the great memories Gabby and he had shared up to this moment. From long-distance dating and FaceTime's to road trips and family holidays, they were grateful for every moment. Carson said to close her eyes, that he had a surprise for her. When she opened her eyes he was on one knee, ring in hand, and asked for her hand in marriage.
