This is the closest major airport to Banff and it is approximately a 90-minute scenic drive west from Calgary.

Rental Car

TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

We recommend renting a car from Calgary International Airport. Everything in the town of Banff is walkable, but a car will give you the freedom to explore this incredible region of Canada! The Calgary Airport has many car rental companies. Bus: There are a few bus companies that run between Calgary and Banff, including Brewster Express and Banff Airporter. The price is around $65 (for an adult) and there are no change fees.

Travel Note

PARK PASSES

When you enter one of the Rocky Mountain national parks, you will have to pay an entry fee. For the purposes of fees, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Yoho National Parks can be considered one large park-your entrance purchased at one is valid at all the others. You can purchase your pass for the number of days you need (or get an annual pass) when you first arrive at a park gate. Whether it would be more cost effective to buy daily passes for the number of days you intend to spend in the national parks or buy an annual pass depends on the duration of your visit and the number of people. Prices are shown below (CAD): Adult - $9.80 Senior - $8.30 Youth (17 and under) - Free Family and Group - $19.60 Discovery (Annual Pass) Adult - $67.70 Senior - $57.90 Family/Group (up to 7 ppl) - $136.40 Passes can also be purchased at the information centers in town or online. OTHER HOTELS AND ACCOMODATIONS

Since the town is in a national park, they do no allow AirBnB, VRBO, etc. However, these lodging options are allowed in Canmore, which is about a 15 minute drive from Banff. There are also several bed and breakfast options throughout the town. (https://www.banfflakelouise.com/accommmodation/bed-breakfast). Additionally, there are plenty of hotels in downtown Banff that you can explore on your own. We suggest using search sites, such as Expedia, Orbit, Hotels.com and Travelocity in addition to www.banffhotels.org/ where you can find hotels, condos, cabins, etc. Please reach out to us with any questions or other recommendations - we are happy to help!
