Incredible views of the Golden Gate and ocean. Hike down to the beach. Located at the Western end of SF, just past the southern (SF) side of the Golden Gate. Best to drive (or Uber/Lyft/Taxi). Allow at least an hour, maybe two, to get there, depending on traffic, from either hotel.
Beautiful views looking east to Mount Diablo or west to the Bay. Miles of hiking trails through the Berkeley hills start from here. About a 30 minute drive from the hotels.
Great Aquarium on the edge of Monterey Bay.. Take a boat ride and see Humpback whales, Blue Whales, and Dolphins. About a 2 hour drive from the hotels.
A 5 minute drive from the Lafayette Park Hotel or 10-15 minutes from the Club Sport, this is a nice place to be out in nature but not too rugged. There is a paved trail around the reservoir (2 or 3 miles). You can also take a paddleboat or canoe out on the Reservoir, or have a picnic on the grass.
Many miles of trails through the hills in Briones regional park. A bit out of the way (30 minutes or so from the hotels on windy roads), but worth it if you want to be out in nature. Trails are dirt and maybe muddy. Bring a sun hat because it is mostly open (not covered by trees).
On a clear day you can see all the way to SF from the top of Mount Diablo. You can drive to the top (probably 45 minutes from the hotels), where there is a lookout. Rock city is about midway up the mountain, where there are some caves that are fun to explore. It is usually very hot on Mount Diablo during the day. Go there early in the morning if it is a hot day.
Nice park with a lot of kites (it is windy) and a short trail (a mile or so) with benches around the edge of the bay that looks straight out to the Golden Gate. Easily accessible, just off Interstate 80 in Berkeley (University Ave exit). About 30 minutes from the hotels.
Enjoy Walnut Creek's many shops and restaurants centrally located downtown, about 1 mile from Walnut Creek BART or a 5 minute drive from either hotel.
Head to downtown Lafayette to dine at nice restaurants/cafes or visit shops. Lafayette is a bit smaller than Walnut Creek, and its downtown has fewer shopping and dining options, but it does have some charm, is near to both hotels, and is a quieter scene than Walnut Creek, especially at night.
Iconic place to visit in SF. See seals up close (lots of them), walk along the bay by shops and many interesting places to eat. Adjacent to Pier 39, another SF attraction. Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 is very popular and can be quite crowded. They are accessible by BART and a walk or Uber/Lyft/Taxi/Muni bus from BART. Cable cars go from Powell Street BART station to Ghirardelli Square (SF chocolate and ice cream shop), which is a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf.
