Wedding Party

Meet the friends that have supported us along our journey together:

Megan Schimmel

Maid of Honor

Megan and I met at freshman orientation in the March before we began at UMary. We reconnected on move in day and the rest is history. We’ve shared many hours working on math homework together, nights watching Matthew play ultimate frisbee, and time spent talking instead of studying. Trips to visit each other’s homes made us very close, and I am grateful to have Megan’s joyful presence in my life.

Andrew Mayer

Best Man

Andrew and I go way back. From childhood backyard football to Minnesota United games, we bond over soccer, video games, music, and fishing. We’ve won multiple trophies on Fifa 22, and basically have the best soccer team in the world under the name Mayer United. Both in the game and in real life, Andrew has been there for me, and I couldn’t have asked for a better brother and best man.

Kathleen Brousek

Bridesmaid

I met Kathleen the day before freshman college move in during pep band camp. We hit it off right away and spent the rest of the night hanging out and talking. Matthew and I have had many double dates with Kathleen and her boyfriend, Mark. We’ve made chicken pot pie a few times (soooo good), lasagna, ate at the Nest, played board games together, and have even gone out for dinner.

Ryan Johnson

Groomsman

Ryan and I together have written over two dozen unofficial academic dissertations together. Three full semesters of two brains who think well together on all topics, except for what constitutes the perfect Pop-Tart, will tend to be able to produce immense amounts of information for the whole world to see. We are best known for discovering stick-tology, the study of how things stick together. The stickiest substance is virtuous friendship between two people, just like what we share.

Catherine Moraghan

Bridesmaid

Catherine and I met when she moved to Brainerd in 4th grade. We quickly became good friends, and sat next to each other for years in our middle school science classes. We spent lots of time working hard in AP classes in high school together. While we didn’t end up at the same college, we still encourage each other to work hard and pursue our dreams. Catherine has been so supportive of Matthew and I, and I am very grateful for her friendship.

Leo Devick

Groomsman

Leo and I met during our freshman week at the University of Mary. We have many things in common, including love of technology, funny hats, dank memes, and RRROMA!!! Leo has been a true friend, and has gotten me out of many technological binds. In our freshman year of college, we tried to get home in the big bad Easter snowstorm of ’23. We ended up making it to Jamestown right as the interstate closed. We stayed the night at my aunt’s place and had a Miles Teller marathon with my cousins. We eventually made it home after spending 2 nights in Jamestown. Leo is a certified space cowboy for trekking that journey with me.

Maria Mayer

Bridesmaid

I absolutely adore Maria, Matthew’s younger sister. She is sweet, silly, and bubbly. She and I enjoy catching up and talking whenever we’re together. She’s very supportive of Matthew and I, and I am so excited for her to be my sister-in-law!

John Schaff

Groomsman

John, or Cowboy John as most know him, and I have been partners in the law since the first week of freshman year. John gives some of the best advice, and is always there to talk with you. John is a very authentic and deep person. We love to talk about poetry, music, and movies that contain deep meaning. Some of my favorite board games to play with him are Cribbage, Catan, Poker, and Root. He’s one of the most loyal and authentic people I know, and he’s just hanging out.
