Greg and Carrie first met as sixth graders in orchestra class. Carrie had a large crush on Greg, however he was too cool at the time for girls. They were friends throughout high school (although from Greg's perspective it is still up for debate whether they were friends or not). As all things go in Saratoga Springs, they ran into each other at a classic Sammi Abate (bridesmaid) basement party during the week of Thanksgiving in their junior year of college. This party is where they first got a glimpse of the spark between them. However the universe could sense that these souls were not quite ready for each other and had them part ways back to college. Carrie decided to move to Charleston, SC after graduating college as a nurse. She originally planned to stay in Boston, however she had a feeling in her heart that is wasn't right. She talked to her sister Maggie (MOH) about maybe moving to Charleston and as soon as it left her lips, she knew for some reason she was meant to move there, later understanding why. Carrie ran into Greg at a bar in Saratoga after graduation while celebrating her last few nights before moving, and he said that he may end up getting stationed in Charleston in November. He said he would reach out if he ended up down there. As Carrie lived her new life in Charleston, she always kept it in the back of her mind that he may be moving there as well. After months of not hearing anything, come the first week of November Carrie was scrolling through her bumble app and saw that none other than Greg Polmatier was only 5 miles away from her. They matched and she messaged asking why he was being weird and did not text her that he had moved to Charleston. Greg claims he couldn't text her because "she was too pretty and cool he was way too nervous" and therefore waited until they happened to find each other on a dating app to reach out. Carrie invited him to come to a trivia night with her friends at a local dive bar, where all of her friends ended up unable to come at the last minute, which ended up being Greg and Carrie's first date. They played foosball, danced, and talked like they somehow were already best friends. After spending a few days together in Charleston, Carrie and Greg both were flying home to Saratoga the next week for Thanksgiving and ran into each other at the airport gate, realizing that they were on the same flight home. They travelled there and back together, the universe realizing that this time when their paths crossed, their hearts were ready for each other. After that trip Carrie and Greg became inseparable. They started their beautiful relationship in Charleston, adopted a cat, made many memories and decided to move together in May of 2023 to Washington State for Greg's naval career. They adopted another cat together, became competitive pickle ball players, and created a home together. On April 17th, when visiting home for the week, Greg brought Carrie to the Saratoga Spa State Park for a picnic date. He proposed to her in her favorite spot, making her the happiest girl in the world. With a few hiccups, including Greg having to ask Carrie if he coerced her into saying "yes" after he didn't hear her say yes the first time, they started their engagement enjoying champagne and laughing about how they should have done research regarding how to act normal during a proposal. They celebrated the rest of the night with friends and family at a surprise engagement party that Greg planned, with some help;). Greg and Carrie have a forever love that is a constant calm, always growing and never faltering. They are each other's soul mates, each other's puzzle pieces, always aware that they are okay apart, but so much more beautiful together.
