How We Met

Maryville College

We met our Freshman year of college. The two of us were in a few of the same circles, and had even had a few classes together in our first semester, but we never really got to know one another until we shared a History class together Spring Semester of our Freshman year. We each had to take a make-up exam on the same date, which was a perfect excuse to study together and get to know one another. Soon after, we headed out on tour with the MC Concert Choir. We spent a lot of time together on tour and quickly fell head over heels for one another. We both graduated from Maryville College in May 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in History. Now we are working jobs that we love while planning our wedding and future with one another. We could not be happier.

How Jordan Proposed

"When in doubt, grill some cheese." -Jordan

I knew Maddie had a sneaking suspicion that I was going to propose soon. I mean, we had talked about it on numerous occasions, but she still didn't know when it was really supposed to take place. I decided to schedule a little mountain getaway up to Cades Cove (our favorite place) and set up a plan with Jacob and Lauren, some of our dear friends. Unfortunately, after rain delays, scheduling errors, and the failed purchase of a Ghillie Suit, I decided not to propose that day in the mountains. We decided to go anyway, though, and that plan backfired.... Maddie was looking for the proposal at every stop in the Cove, but I was smart and left the ring at home to avoid the temptation! By the time we headed back down the mountain, I knew she was disappointed because she turned down my offer of Chick-fil-A fries (vegan paradise). So, as soon as we got home, I reassured her that I would propose in time and that she had nothing to worry about. Little did she know, I had already called Lauren. I pulled her (vegan) Grilled Cheese off the griddle and her Tomato Soup from the stove, and as soon as Lauren, Logan, and Liam arrived to witness everything from the living room, I asked Maddie to marry me over a Grilled Cheese sandwich and lukewarm Tomato Soup. Couldn't have planned it better if I tried.
