Enjoy the best month in Charleston on Folly Beach! Any block on the beach is a great spot to park and walk or lounge for the day. TWO IMPORTANT THINGS: If you have your own car, make sure all 4 tires are off the street. Those tickets are pretty hefty. Also, if you plan on having a beach cocktail, make sure it's super concealed. We are a dry beach and the patrollers will ticket for alcohol and glass bottles. There is plenty of food and drinks and shopping on Center Street. Some of our favorite spots for food are Surf Bar, The Drop In, Taco Boy, and the beach bar at Blu (Tides hotel).
Saturday morning, starting at 8am, stroll through Marion Square and grab some local cuisine and a fresh squeezed lemonade at our beautiful Farmer's Market! The market goes until 2pm with live music, bounce castles, pony rides, and sometimes (if you're lucky) a puppy parade.
Walk or bike the battery! There is free parking all along the sea wall and South Battery Park is a great place for a picnic lunch under the magnolias! Rainbow Row is right around the corner on East Bay St. and leads you directly to some delicious food further down.
If you're staying on Folly and want to grab some accouterments for your room/airbnb, this is the place to go! Delicious deli, beach essentials, beer and wine, boiled peanuts...you can find it here! Bert's has been around forever; their slogan? "We may doze, but we never close."
If you have a car or the ability to get out of Charleston city proper, Magnolia plantation is a beautiful trip to make! About 25 minutes outside of city limits, this is one of Charleston's oldest plantations, complete with a petting zoo and walking tours all day!
Kid friendly! Yay! This is a super accessible aquarium with lots to see, including a beautiful view of the Cooper River and Ravenel Bridge!
Famous King Street. If you want to shop and eat and drink and be a tourist...this is where you go. King Street, Meeting Street, and East Bay Street all run parallel to each other down to the water. Start anywhere on King and get lost! The College of Charleston Campus is a block off of King and George street and has a beautiful campus!
