What started as a fun night out with a friend ended up becoming a weekly meet-up, became a eventually a decade and counting of love and learning. We met through our mutual friend Elise at Coleman's Irish Pub's weekly trivia night on Tipp Hill, just steps away from Carolyn's first apartment in Syracuse. At the time, Carolyn was in her internship and Dain was working at Target. We quickly started spending more time together than just Tuesday nights trivia showing off how much smarter we are than the other teams (we even have the trophy to prove it). Once Carolyn finished her internship, she found her first clinic job in Hamburg, NY and would be moving to Buffalo. Through some driving and patience we made long distance work until Dain switched stores and was able to move over to Buffalo. The new city allowed us to have some nice easy dates like walking across the US-Canadian border to our friend in the north and seeing Niagara Falls from the best side. The best part about being in Buffalo? We started to foster dogs. After a wonderful first foster, Macey, Carolyn brought home a Bean. Bean failed at being fostered and became family (Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten). After a few years and even more adventures Dain moved back to Syracuse while Carolyn went to fill one of her dreams of traveling for a year. The only problem with that? The year was 2019, and while that year started okay, we all soon learned just what was in store. As the world shut down, Carolyn made the worst choice she has ever made and decided to flee Japan before the borders closed. The before times were over and our heroes survived. They even found a new place to live with a little bit of Hobbit Shire green.
