Here's a more comprehensive list of Caroline's favorite places in Dade and Broward County. This includes gyms, restaurants, and activities.
This was a favorite spot for Caroline and Alex during college. During finals, we'd frequent this place for some fro-yo to take our minds off of studying for a little while. If it's hot (or even if it's not), check it out!
When Caroline worked at Sylvan Learning Center (with Bridesmaid Danielle), she probably spent half her paycheck at Deli Lane. Get the burger. It's so good. Also if you like pickles, they will hook you up.
Caroline has been going here for years (growing up in SoFL #amirite) and Joseph first visited with the Miami Cross Country team. It was Joseph's first introduction to snorkeling, and fun fact, the site of our engagement.
Caroline and her family used to go here all the time. When she introduced Joseph to it, it quickly became a favorite of his, too. Caroline loves the nostalgia and the fish dip, Joseph loves the "taste of Florida tropics" and their pina coladas.
Looking for a nice beach to visit? The beaches here are much quieter and cleaner, and if you go far enough south, you can visit the lighthouse.
Caroline will boldly say that this place has the best breakfast she has ever had. Definitely go for the stuffed french toast because that guava sauce it comes with is DIVINE. If you don't believe me, ask Julie. She can also attest to this.
The former villa and estate of businessman James Deering, this place is so beautiful to visit. Caroline recommends getting there early because it can get pretty busy.
This place is a cool spot to check out if you want a place for a laid back vibe and a local beer. Caroline personally loves the artwork on the cans. The best part is that you're walking distance form the famous Wynwood Walls for some IG worthy pictures.
If you know Caroline, you know she loves a good mural. Check out the Wynwood Walls to see artists from near and far display some of their amazing work. Make sure you look for artwork by Tatiana Suarez, one of Caroline's good friends from the U.
If you didn't think I was putting in a workout recommendation, you don't know Caroline. Check out Barry's, get a butt kicking, and then go to Panther coffee next door for a cold brew. You're welcome. I'd recommend an earlier class if parking stresses you out.
This is a local Miami coffee shop (and chain, this one just happens to be next to Barry's) and it is SO good. Absolutely make sure you get yourself a coffee from here while you're in town.
Be advised, you must purchase admission before visiting. The pool was founded by George Merrick as part of the development of Coral Gables and opened in 1924, a year before the University of Miami. The water is a cool 76 degrees, so be warned, it will be brisk. The site is beautiful and worth visiting, even if you don't swim.
If you're up for a little drive, check out Coral Castle. Built by Edward Leedskalnin, yes, just him. From 1923 to 1951, Ed single-handedly carved over 1,100 tons of coral rock!
Joseph and Caroline have stopped here before every visit further south. Caroline likes the mango shakes and Joseph like the guyabano/soursop. There's also a petting zoo out back.
Yes, this is one of our host hotels, but also, there's a ghost tour here worth checking out! The Biltmore was once used as a military hospital during WWII. In the 50s, The U was housed at the Biltmore. There's so much history behind this beautiful hotel, so if you're not staying here, try and take some time to visit to just walk around.
Caroline and her sister have visited this many times in their youth. Now, whenever Caroline visits Miami, she drives past it, laughs, and remembers how she and her sister used to provide dramatic readings of Footsteps. If you like naturally made conversation pieces, it's worth a visit. There are also a lot of new luxury shops that have since popped up around the once super sketchy area.
Caroline and her mom love to come here for their garlic crabs. If you are flying in to FLL or are choosing to spend some time in Broward County, make sure you stop here for some delicious crabs!
A beautiful tropical garden featuring tropical fruit cultivars and flowering trees.
An old stomping ground for the Miami Cross Country team. One of Joseph's favorite places to run. If you want a treat, stop in for dinner at Redfish. Fun Fact: Scenes from the movie Something about Mary were filmed here.
This museum is absolutely beautiful and definitely a place where you'd want to spend much of your day. The aquarium is really cool because there are vantage points at the most unique angels, it's like you're swimming with sharks without even getting wet. If you need more than science, there is an amazing art museum next door AND the views of Miami Beach cannot be beat.
If you're in to sweet wine or just want to try something different, check out this place. They make wine out of local fruits (think mango and guava). It's really sweet but also pretty delicious. If beer is more your thing, this is also the home to Miami Brewing Co. If alcohol isn't your thing, it's still a beautiful place worth visiting.
This has recently become the new place to hang out. There are a lot of outdoor events here from beer fests to Frenchie meet ups. Maybe there will be something fun while you're in town. In town Thursday? Check out their game night.
Want some commemorative Miami gear but don't want to pay bookstore prices? Come get yourself a 305 shirt (or 10).
Want to book a day spa while you're in town? The best part-- you can use it beyond our wedding because there are partner spas participating all over the country!
