As you can probably imagine, we have made many changes to our plans over the past several months! We have been in very close communication with Alderbrook throughout our planning process to ensure that everything we have planned follows both the resort’s health and safety restrictions as well as the restrictions outlined by Washington state. Our events will be held outdoors to ensure maximum air flow and we will follow all necessary protocols related to masking and social distancing. Please remember to pack your mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.
We absolutely encourage you to get the Covid vaccine as soon as you are eligible, as mass vaccination is critical to ending the pandemic. We have gotten our shots and we can’t wait to see you! We would prefer that all guests present at our wedding be fully vaccinated. If you are not able to be vaccinated by August, we urge you to get a coronavirus test before attending our wedding.
Alderbrook is requiring their staff to wear masks at all times, indoors and outdoors, regardless of their vaccination status. Additionally, all resort staff and outside vendors will undergo a health screening process at Alderbrook on each day of our celebration, and will not be allowed onsite if they are unable to pass the screening. Guests do not need to wear masks outdoors. (Remember, all of our events will be held outdoors.) If you are fully vaccinated and would prefer not to wear a mask indoors in Alderbrook's public spaces, please bring your vaccine card to show to the staff at check in.
Throughout her life, Caroline has spent part of every summer in Washington—her mom’s side of the family is originally from Seattle. Being in the Pacific Northwest always feels like being on vacation—there’s gorgeous scenery, perfect weather, a relaxed pace, and plenty of fun things to do!
August is the best time of year in Washington—it has the lowest average rainfall of any month and temperatures typically hover around 80 degrees during the day with very little humidity. (And very little rain!) We’ve chosen our date strategically and are hoping for a perfect day.
Our wedding Ceremony, Reception, and Farewell Dinner will be semi-formal/cocktail attire. For the Welcome Dinner and Lawn Games, please plan for casual attire. Our events will be held outdoors, so you may want to consider the grass when selecting your shoes, and Caroline is always a fan of a fashionable sun hat for daytime events! Beyond the celebration, Alderbrook offers a variety of activities on-site, from a spa to golf to hiking trails to various watersports. We definitely suggest packing your swimsuit and some activewear in addition to your wedding attire so that you can take full advantage of all the resort has to offer.
