FAQs

Question

Airport Transport

Answer

It is likely easiest to rent a car in order to get to/from the airport. If you are not renting a car there are transport companies from Reno (RNO) to North Lake Tahoe destinations. Make sure to book round trip. It can be easier to get a ride from the airport to Olympic Valley, than from Olympic Valley back to the airport. There are no bus/shuttles or public trans from Sacramento (SMF) or San Francisco (SFO), so you'll need to rent a car if flying in there. If you plan to vacation in Napa before or after the wedding, Sacramento (SMF) is the preferred airport. If you plan to visit Yosemite, Sacramento (SMF) is also recommended. If staying in Truckee or Tahoe city, you'll want a car, as Uber/Lyft and cab services are unreliable here. If staying in Olympic Valley, you should be able to take a shuttle or walk almost anywhere. The Village at Palisades, PlumpJack Inn, and the Palisades Tahoe Lodge are all walking distance to the venue, as well as multiple restaurants and bar options and light shopping. If you would like to access Truckee or Tahoe City, you will need either a car or to use the public transportation system, which is described below. Note: We are in North Tahoe. There are far more transport services to South Lake Tahoe, but that is an hour away.

Question

Grocery shopping

Answer

There are 4 grocery stores in Truckee, 12 miles from Olympic Valley (Raley's, Safeway, Save Mart, and Grocery Outlet), as well as one (Safeway) in Tahoe City, 7.5 miles from Olympic Valley. You'll travel through Truckee on your way no matter what airport your fly into. There is a small market (Alice's Mountain Market) in Olympic Valley. It is overpriced, and better used to supply forgotten items than be a primary grocery shop.

Question

Rental Cars

Answer

Rental cars are available at major airports, but there is not a rental agency in or around Olympic Valley. If you'd like a car for the weekend please book accordingly. Uber/Lyft/Cabs are not reliable. They do exist, but are few and far between. We do have a good public transit bus program called TART. They also have on-demand TART Connect vehicles, which are basically free Uber/Lyfts. The Tart and Tart Connect are both free. There is an app for the Tart Connect, and it also includes the bus schedules. Please check the app for time restrictions and schedules.

Question

What time should I arrive at the wedding?

Answer

The Wedding begins at 3:00 pm. Please be to the chapel by 2:45 pm.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

The average temperature in Olympic Valley in June is a high of 65-70 and a low of 40. The sun is strong here! The backyard of the chapel where our reception is has plenty of trees for shade, but sunscreen is still recommended. Once the sun goes down it will get a little chilly, so we recommend bringing a sweater or a light jacket.

Question

Is there a dress code

Answer

Cocktail attire. The reception is outside on uneven ground, please wear shoes with block heels or flats.

Question

Is there transportation to from the hotel to the reception?

Answer

All of the hotels we listed are walking distance from our wedding/reception. Palisades Tahoe Lodge is 0.1 miles away from the reception, Plumpjacks Hotel is 0.2 miles away, The village is between .25 and .50 pending where in the village you stay and Everline Resort is 2 miles away, and they have their own private shuttle service. If anyone is injured or has any other reason that would make walking difficult, there is parking at the chapel.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

We love all of our nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend's children BUT kids are not invited to the wedding. Our welcome party on Friday night IS kid friendly. If you plan to bring your family and need childcare for Saturday night please reach out, we will do our best to help you find someone local.
