Best tasting coffee in Savannah (also served at the Paris Market and The Grey). The cafe space itself is nothing special, but the coffee is delicious and roasted in house.
This is the best coffee spot to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere (and tastes great too). Make your way to the back patio for a lush, artsy garden vibe. Good, casual breakfast and lunch options too.
If you are walking down Broughton Street (great street for shopping), then Coffee Fox is a good spot to stop in for a pick me up.
This coffee shop is on the edge of Forsyth Park and perfect to stop in while you're out for a walk. It's a community-oriented space where they host local poetry readings and jazz nights.
The Central Park of Savannah, if you will. The farmers' market is on Saturdays from 9am-1pm--highly recommend. Generally great for a walk or to read under a nice, mossy oak tree.
Nice park for walking and also home of the Savannah Bananas' baseball stadium.
Broughton Street is fun to walk down for shopping--a mix of second hand and vintage spots, as well as places like J. Crew and Gap. There are also several restaurants and cute gift shops.
The Paris Market is on Broughton Street, but deserves its own entry. It's a beautiful home goods store that's a pleasure to peruse. There is a French inspired cafe inside that serves delicious coffee and macaroons.
River Street is touristy, but definitely worth a visit! It's a cobblestone street along the riverside with lots of souvenir shops, alcohol in to-go cups (hurricane, anyone?), and delicious candies and sweets. Free praline samples!
The best record store in Savannah! They also have their own record label, recording studios, and are very supportive of the local music scene in general. It's in a neighborhood called the Starland District, which is artsy and fun.
Vintage clothing, local jewelry, nostalgic snacks, random odds and ends
This is a cool shop that sells art, clothing, jewelry, ceramics, etc. exclusively made by SCAD students and alums.
Best soul food in town <3
Best sushi--this restaurant is housed in an old bank and they turned the teller stations into the sushi bar, and you can dine in the original vault.
Best Chinese - the main dining area is meant to feel like you're dining in a bird cage. There's also a cool speakeasy below the restaurant called the Peacock Lounge.
Incredible, fine dining with some low country influences. The executive chef, Mashama Bailey, is a James Beard Award Winner and was also featured in an episode of Chef's Table on Netflix. If you plan to eat here, definitely watch this episode as it will give you great context for the food as well as the space, which is an old Greyhound station. You will need reservations to dine in the main dining room, but the front area is called the Diner Bar and serves a limited version of the menu; you can often walk in for this area and it's also less expensive.
Fine dining, local produce and seafood--a real "treat yourself" experience!
Lovely spot for lunch, incredible poke bowls and a good wine list.
Best brunch! Bottomless mimosas and even "to-go-sas"
Popular for brunch, but really great at any time of day. Fun to go in the afternoon for cocktails and a charcuterie. Classic Savannah spot for good drinks, food and vibes.
Best French food!
Excellent food made by even better people -- creative and local
Good spot for local seafood
Good casual spot for lunch or dinner
This is a food truck park and outdoor bar made out of graffiti-covered storage containers. Fun spot during the day or at night, dog and family-friendly.
Iconic Savannah pizzeria for a NY style slice or giant pie. It's open until 11pm and popular with the late night crowd.
Pinkie's is an iconic Savannah dive--the oldest operating bar in town and originally owned by a close friend of Jimmy Carter. According to Savannah lore, Carter jumped on top of the bar to announce his candidacy for president.
Probably our favorite Savannah bar (though it's hard to pick). It's cozy and divey with kind of a 70's tiki bar feel. The drinks are delish!
A fun, wood paneled bar with duck pin bowling
Another classic Savannah dive
Sleek, retro bar and restaurant
Best brewery in town! They specialize in sours, but brew plenty of other options, too. It's family-friendly, in an old, Victorian house and each room has a slightly different feel (e.g. arcade games, lounge, board games, porches).
A swanky, sexy cocktail bar with velvet furniture and dramatic lighting. The drinks are top-notch, including several mocktail/NA options
Another great cocktail bar, with nice sized booths and menus printed like newspapers.
A solid bar with a cozy, vintage feel--good cocktails and small plates. They host a super fun themed Halloween party every year, along with frequent vinyl nights, live music, and art shows.
This is the rooftop bar at the Perry Lane Hotel--best views of the city and delicious frosé!
Parker's is a gas station chain in south Georgia, but this location is famously dubbed "Fancy Parker's". It's a little bit nicer than your average gas station and you can get a solid chicken biscuit here late into the night.
The Jepson Center is a beautifully designed art museum with a lovely collection.
Especially fun to visit if you've read any of her writing, which really encapsulates the southern gothic feel of the city.
Beautiful cemetery if you're into that sort of thing. Stunning old oaks and Spanish moss--it was prominently featured in the novel and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
Cool old trains from all different eras!
Check out a ghost tour while you're visiting (these may book quickly due to it being Halloween weekend).
Tybee Island is the closest beach to Savannah, and it is cute and campy--air brushed t's and seashell jewelry galore. This could honestly be an entirely different list of recommendations, but the highlights are (1) North Beach Grill for an outdoor beach bar, bathrooms and changing stalls, (2) Sting Rays for fried seafood and piña coladas, (3) the Chatham beach entrance for easiest parking and best views of sunset on the beach, (4) Fisherman's Walk is another good spot for parking and sunset viewing, with a small pier if you don't feel like walking in the sand.
