In May of 2017, I was at a sleepover with my friends, Rhea and Melissa. We were bored and decided one of us should make a DilMil account, me being the chosen one. We swiped on people together just for fun, not thinking anything of it. Next thing you know, Amal’s face pops up. I was taken by surprise because I recognized him. Side note, I went to church retreats years ago and I recognized him from a retreat in middle school. And no, it’s not because I’m creepy, I prefer the term observant. Anyways, I remember he had a cute picture with a dog and his bio made me laugh. He messaged me the next day and we only texted for a week before we decided to meet up in person. We both happened to live in Fremont at the time and realized we lived 5 minutes away from each other! Naturally, we met up to get milk tea. I wasn’t nervous and didn’t have much expectations going in on this date. I had just moved back home from college and I was not expecting to jump into a relationship at all. But the moment I met Amal, I knew things would be different. We instantly clicked and not once did the conversation stop flowing. We just had so much to say. We talked for so long that we were the last ones at the restaurant only leaving because they needed to close. After that date, I knew that I wanted to see him again. I felt a sense of security and connection that I hadn’t felt before. That’s how I knew he was the one. We have very similar values on what we want in life and we both have the same sense of humor. Every time I’m with Amal it’s just so refreshingly fun. We’re both weird and silly and he makes me laugh til my stomach hurts. With Amal, I knew I would not only have a partner to do life with, but also a best friend. He always takes care of me, makes me feel safe, and loved. He continues to share his big heart not only with me, but with all our family and friends too. Now here we are five years later planning our wedding and I am so excited for this new chapter! There’s no one else I want to do life with. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Amal.
It was a warm spring evening, Amal was going through Dil Mil when he came across Caroline’s profile. “OMG, she’s cute, malayalee, catholic AND from Fremont?” thought Amal to himself. He instantly swiped right and waited to see if she would swipe as well. The next day as he was getting ready for work Amal got a notification saying that he had matched with Caroline on Dil Mil. He was excited beyond measure, so much in fact that he came up with the best intro line ever, “Hey, what’s up?”. Apparently, Caroline had known Amal from a church retreat several years ago, although Amal had no idea who she was. Although this was a little creepy, Amal decided to shoot his shot anyway. As expected, the line worked like a charm and Caroline and Amal made plans for their first date to grab boba at a store called Q-Tea Monster. Ironically, as Amal walked into the boba store, he saw the Q-Tiest monster he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. The first date went magnificently as they talked through the night and eventually got kicked out of the boba shop at closing. At this point Amal knew there was something special about this girl and immediately asked when the next time they could hang out was. In fact, he was so excited to tell his friends about his date that he got a ticket for running a red light on the way home (don’t worry it was a rolling stop). After two months of dating, they decided to become official. Mostly because Caroline decided to take some initiative since Amal was clearly in a world of his own enjoying the good vibes. As the next five years passed, Amal realized more and more that this was the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Seeing how caring she was with his family and friends just cemented it. Caroline always reminds Amal to not stress about the little things in life and served as his support throughout all the tough times in work and life. In 2022, Amal finally decided that he couldn’t let this girl go as she was truly a diamond in the rough. After getting a blessing from both sets of parents, Amal asked Caroline to marry him on June 4th.
