Newport

Newport, Rhode Island, is one of the most charming cities in New England. We recommend to visit its lovely shopping area with mostly independent boutique style shops located right at the waterfront. A little drive away is the Bellevue Avenue Historic District, a National Historic Landmark of Rhode Island. This beautiful area is filled with gorgeous mansions, many of which come from the Gilded Age of the late 1800s. Most of the land here is privately owned, though some of the mansions are open to the public as museums. While you are there you have to explore the Cliff Walk!

Cliff Walk

Newport's Cliff Walk is a 3 1/2 mile scenic path along the coast with beautiful views of the ocean, beaches and century-old Rhode Island mansions. This is one of our favorites!

Downtown Mystic

Nestled along both banks of the Mystic River, downtown Mystic is one of New England's premier tourist destinations. It is rich in tradition as a waterside community that makes the locals happy to call it home and the visitors feel like it is their second home. Come explore the welcoming downtown, where you can eat, stay, shop and play anythime of the year. Head to the bridge!

Cape Cod

If you're making a long weekend of it .. within a two hour drive Cape Cod (or THE COD, as we call it) awaits! One of our favorite places is Woods Hole, home to the Marine Biological Laboratory. It is a fantastic place for science and sight seeing alike. The town has wonderful New England charm and is a great stepping stone to explore other areas of Cape Cod. It's harbor has ferries to Martha's Vineyard.

Gillette Castle State Park

Hidden away in the hills of Connecticut is this fascinating home, designed and created by famous stage actor William Gillette, who was famous for playing Sherlock Holmes for decades. The castle is perched right over the river, so the views are gorgeous. The house is now part of a state park, and one must book a tour to go inside, but the experience should not be missed!

Chester Hadlyme Ferry

A special way to travel to/from Gillette Castle, fun for kids and families.

Block Island

Block Island is just south of mainland Rhode Island. Its 1800s red-brick Southeast Lighthouse sits atop the dramatic clay cliffs of Mohegan Bluffs, with a rocky beach below.

Cross Sound Ferry (New London)

Cross Sound Ferry is a passenger and road vehicle ferry service operating between New London, Connecticut and Orient on the North Fork of Long Island, New York.

Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard, a Massachusetts island, sits in the Atlantic just south of Cape Cod. A longtime New England summer colony, it encompasses harbor towns and lighthouses, sandy beaches and farmland. It's accessible only by boat or air.
