Old Town Altea / Casco Antiguo de Altea
The Altea Old Town is a place that holds a beautiful cultural heritage for discovering historic buildings, churches, museums and monuments. One of the most emblematic places of the old town is the beautiful Church of Our Lady of Consolation. Throughout the tour you will enjoy numerous natural viewpoints where to enjoy a great view of the city, but the most important is the Mirador de Cronistas located on the top, next to the church. El Casco Antiguo de Altea es un lugar que atesora un hermoso patrimonio cultural para descubrir edificios históricos, iglesias, museos y monumentos. Uno de los lugares más emblemáticos del casco antiguo es la preciosa Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, y el Mirador de Cronistas, desde donde puedes ver la bahía.
Parque Natural de la Sierra Helada - Albir
This is a great hike which offers different routes where you get to explore an old mine of ocre, the old lighthouse and museum. On beautiful days you can even spot dolphins and even see Ibiza island from afar. You cannot miss these amazing bay and mountain views! Esta es una preciosa caminata que ofrece diferentes rutas donde podrás explorar una antigua mina de ocre, el antiguo faro y el museo. En los días bonitos puedes incluso avistar delfines e incluso ver la isla de Ibiza desde lejos. ¡No te puedes perder estas increíbles vistas de la bahía y la montaña!
Playa del Albir
Beautiful beach and you can walk along the promenade and enjoy some nice views and stop for a beer or glass of wine on your way back in one of the beach lounges. If you're going for a swim don't forget to bring special beach shoes with you to enter the water as the beach in Altea is not sandy but full of pebbles. If you'd rather go to a sandy beach there are sandy beaches in the neighboring towns of Calpe and Benidorm (10-15 mins away by car from Altea) Preciosa playa. Puedes caminar por el paseo marítimo y disfrutar de unas bonitas vistas y parar a tomar una cerveza o una copa de vino en el camino en uno de los beach lounges de la playa. Si vas a nadar, no olvides traer zapatos de playa especiales para entrar al agua, ya que la playa de Altea no es de arena sino de guijarros. Si prefieres ir a una playa de arena, hay playas de arena en las localidades vecinas de Calpe y Benidorm (a 10-15 minutos en coche de Altea).
Fort de Bernia/ El Forat
This is one of the most beautiful hikes Angel and I have ever done. It is a bit of an intermediate-advanced hike. You will get to see an old roman fort, explore the prehistoric caves with cave paintings, and pass from one part of the mountain to the other through a whole that was naturally excavated on the top of the mountain (known as "el forat"). The hike takes approximately 4 hours to complete. Don't forget to bring hiking shoes as some parts are pretty steep and to bring water and some snacks with you! Esta es una de las caminatas más bonitas e impresionantes que Angel y yo hemos hecho. Es una caminata un poco intermedia-avanzada. Podrás ver un antiguo fuerte romano, explorar las cuevas prehistóricas con pinturas rupestres y pasar de una parte a otra de la montaña a través de un conjunto excavado naturalmente en la cima de la montaña (conocido como "el forat"). La caminata dura aproximadamente 4 horas. No olvides traer zapatos de senderismo y agua!
La Isla de la Olla, Altea
You can kayak, snorkel or paddle to the island of La Olla. You will get to see crystal clear waters and spot lots of birds and wildlife. Puedes ir a la isla en kayak, haciendo snorkeling o con una tabla de paddle surf. Podrás disfrutar de las aguas cristalinas que rodean la zona de la isla y ver muchas aves y peces.
Castell de Guadalest
Visit one of the most beautiful mountain towns in Spain, just 10-15 mins away from Altea! In Guadalest you can visit the famous medieval castle on the top of the mountain, the Ordena House, see the Guadalest swamp, the medieval prison, and many interesting museums such as: the miniature museum and the medieval torture museum. Visita uno de los pueblos de montaña más bonitos de España, ¡a sólo 10-15 minutos de Altea! En Guadalest podrás visitar el famoso castillo medieval en lo alto de la montaña, la Casa de la Ordena, ver el pantano de Guadalest, la prisión medieval y muchos museos interesantes como: el museo de miniaturas y el museo de la tortura medieval.
Cañón del Mascarat
Otra ruta buena para hacer senderismo y disfrutar de la vista de un impresionante cañón y vistas. Dificultad: Fácil, con zonas de terreno irregular. Ruta Circular Distancia: 4 km Desnivel: 100 m. Tiempo estimado: 2 horas Recomendaciones: calzado de montaña y agua suficiente en meses de verano. Another good route to hike and enjoy the view of an impressive canyon and views. Difficulty: Easy, with areas of uneven terrain. Circular Route Distance: 4 km Elevation: 100 m. Estimated time: 2 hours Recommendations: mountain footwear and enough water in summer months.
Fonts de l'Algar
Las Fuentes del Algar is a beautiful protected natural area made up of countless waterfalls and small waterfalls connected by aquatic channels that form rivers and pools where you can swim surrounded by lush vegetation in the heart of the mountain. NOTE: It gets pretty packed during the Summer season! Make sure to arrive early if you want to get a good spot. Las Fuentes del Algar es un precioso paraje natural protegido compuesto por infinidad de cascadas y pequeños saltos de agua conectados por canales acuáticos que forman ríos y piscinas donde podéis bañaros rodeados de exuberante vegetación en el corazón de la montaña. NOTA: Durante los meses de verano se llena bastante! Tratad de llegar temprano para coger buen sitio.
Mirador Paseo Maritimo
Visit Altea's promenade. Walk along the streets and enjoy some street music or enjoy a bite/drink in one of the restaurants. Visita el paseo marítimo de Altea. Camina por las calles y disfruta de la música callejera o de un bocado/vinito en uno de los restaurantes.
Penon de Ifach
Great 2hr hike to enjoy the beautiful ocean and mountain views! Bring good shoes and water with you. After the hike you can also visit the neighboring town of Calpe and take a swim in one of its sandy beaches or enjoy some sangria or a cold beer on the beach. ¡Gran caminata de 2 horas para disfrutar de las hermosas vistas del océano y la montaña! Lleva contigo buenos zapatos y agua. Después de la caminata también puedes visitar el vecino pueblo de Calpe y darte un baño en una de sus playas de arena o disfrutar de una sangría o una cerveza fría en la playa.
PR-CV 340 Sierra de Oltá
Another beautiful hike to the top of the Olta Mountain. You will get to see the cute and funny mountain goats on the top of the mountain! You will also get an entire bay view from Altea, Calpe and Albir. Make sure to also spot Ibiza! Otra hermosa caminata hasta la cima de la montaña Olta. ¡Verás cabras montesas en lo alto de la sierra! Además obtendrás una vista completa de la bahía desde Altea, Calpe y Albir. ¡Asegúrate de avistar también Ibiza desde la cima!
Alicante
Alicante is a beautiful city only 45 mins (by car) from Altea. Visit the old town in Alicante (with its charming streets and old spots), the ocean boulevard, the different museums (the MARQ archeologic museum, the contemporary arts museum) and the Santa Barbara medieval castle on the top of the hill. Alicante esta a solo 45 minutos en coche de Altea. Vista la parte antigua de Alicante y descubre sus calles con encanto, el paseo marítimo, los diferentes museos (museo MARQ arqueológico de Alicante, museo de arte contemporáneo, etc), y el castillo medieval De Santa Barbara en lo alto de la ciudad.
