We're so excited to share the magic of Bald Head Island with you! While you're on the island, make sure you take advantage of all it has to offer: Explore 14 miles of beaches, hike through the maritime forest preserve, paddle the creeks, or explore BHI's history dating back to the Revolutionary War. We hope you will enjoy the escape and serenity of the island as much as we do.
Dining Options
There are a handful of locations on the island available for dining. The Sandpiper: coffee & ice cream shop located near the ferry The Boathouse: Breakfast Diner, Brunch & Cocktails Jules Salty Grub & Island Pub: restaurant and bar Jailhouse Provisions: restaurant with fresh seafood & southern favorites Midway Coffee BHI: coffee and breakfast beside Jailhouse Provisions Side Wok: Chinese takeout by Maritime Market Nye's Cream: Ice cream at Maritime Market Mike's Bites: grab & go hot dogs and Italian ice The Bald Head Island Club: several fine dining options for lunch and dinner - you must have guest pass to dine here, available for purchase with most home rentals The Shoals Club: several fine dining options and casual dining options. Island Retreat Spa & Salon
Island Retreat is a full service spa & salon offering massage, skin care, manicures and pedicures, hair cutting, coloring and styling. The Spa also offers a range of organic fragrance, skin & hair care products.
Old Baldy Lighthouse and Smith Island Museum
Climb Old Baldy Lighthouse - North Carolina's oldest standing lighthouse. Learn about BHI's role in the revolutionary & civil wars.
Riverside Adventure
Rent kayaks or canoes, bicycles, surf boards, paddle boards and sign up for lessons. Kayaking and paddleboarding on the marsh is one of the best ways to see the island!
Spend a Day at the Beach
With 14 miles of pristine beaches, you shouldn’t have a problem finding your perfect beach spot. South Beach features long stretches of sand and calmer waters, perfect for walking and spending the day with the family. East Beach is ideal for boogie boarding and surfing. Beach equipment rentals, including umbrellas, chairs and beach games like bocce, croquet and bean bag toss, are available through Riverside Adventure Company on a daily and weeklong basis.
Golf the Bald Head Island Club
Hit the links at the George Cobb-designed course that winds through the forest, under the eye of Old Baldy, and out onto the dune ridge where a 180° view of the ocean greets you for the final holes. Club rentals are available for a fee. Croquet, Pickleball, Tennis and a resort style pool are also available at the Club. You must have a guest pass, available for purchase with most home rentals.
