Question

Can I purchase groceries & alcohol on the island?

Answer

There is a grocery store on the island called the Maritime Market. It is open 7 Days a week, hours vary. It is a full grocery with beer & wine, but no liquor. Liquor will need to be purchased on the mainland and brought over if you so desire. Prices at the market reflect typical island pricing. If you want to bring groceries to the island, please pack them in large bins with secure lids and be sure to label them with your name, contact info, and house you're staying at. These will be loaded onto the dollies along with your luggage and then transported onto the ferry so securely taping the lids closed is a good idea as well.

Question

Can I get a case of wine delivered to my BHI rental house?

Answer

Yes you can! Our friends Ted & Teresa who own our local Southport wine store (Uncorked by the Sea) are attending the wedding. They are offering full case purchases (12 bottles) to your door for a $25 delivery fee (to pay for the courier's ferry ride). Order by April 14th to allow time to stock your order. Subject to availability if received after April 14th. A valid ID will need to be on file for the purchaser, and an individual over the age of 21 must be present to accept delivery. Call the shop at 910-454-0633 to learn more.

Question

How do I plan my arrival & departure times?

Answer

Please note the ferry schedule when making your flight reservations. For example, don't book a flight that gets to Wilmington after 10pm because you won't make the last ferry to BHI which is 11pm. Also, don't book an early morning departure flight on Sunday because the earliest you'll be able to get to Wilmington airport is about 9am. We recommend booking afternoon arrival flights and mid-day to afternoon departure flights. Also keep in mind, most homes on Bald Head Island have a 3pm check in and 10am check out.

Question

What should I know about the golf carts?

Answer

Fully charged golf carts have about 90 mins of run time. So be sure to charge your cart when you're not using it. Most importantly over night. Also note, finding your golf cart at the end of the night can be difficult if you don't remember where you parked or what it looks like. And most golf cart keys will fit in almost any golf cart. So make sure you're retrieving your golf cart and not someone else's at the end of the night.

Question

What is the weather like on Bald Head Island?

Answer

April is an interesting month as Bald Head Island transitions fully into the spring season. It greets with a warmer, mellower climate, without straying into the extremity of summer's heat. The nights remain cool as the land gradually rises from winter. Average lows in April are around 60 degrees and average highs are around 70 degrees. We recommend bringing a light jacket for the evening golf cart rides.

Question

What is Beach Cocktail Wedding Attire?

Answer

Although we will not be getting married "on the sand", we would like our guests to feel comfortable wearing beachy cocktail attire. Typically, men's ties are optional, but still welcome. Our male guests should start with a classic long-sleeve button-down and dressy pants; then, add a colorful blazer or patterned sport coat for festivity. Appropriate footwear includes nice loafers and on-theme boat shoes. Women can wear a semi-formal dress, like a maxi or midi, as well as a jumpsuit or dressy separates. A beach cocktail dress code gives you the flexibility to choose a vibrant color or bold print. Finish your outfit with a low heel, wedge or dressy flats. The weather may be cool in April, so a light jacket or wrap is suggested.
