We both met freshman year of high school at St. Francis Catholic Academy. We weren't good friends for the first year. In fact, I really didn't know Steven at all, but he had the same guy friends as I did so we were bound to spend time together (let alone our class had less than 80 people in it all together!). Jump to the end of sophomore year Steven asked me out through a social media platform and I turned him down... the summer passed and in September of 2015 we began talking again, went on a few dates, and a few weeks later on October 17th, he asked me to be his girlfriend. So thankful God instilled persistence in Steven as he kept pursuing me... we wouldn't be here without that ❤
We had been planning our 6-year anniversary trip for a few months, but one person was more persistent about this trip than the other... and that was Steven. We were planning what we called our "10 States in 10 Days" trip through GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, PN, OH, KY, TN, & FL. About 72 hours before we were supposed to leave I get a text from my best friend KJ that we could no longer see her in NC. I immediately texted Steven disappointed and his first response was "ok how can we see her?" So now 48 hours before our trip, I'm rearranging our first 3 days to detour and see her - but only could do that if Steven could negotiate getting one more day off of work. Thursday evening, about 17 hours before we were planning to leave, Steven got approval to get the day off. Later that evening (again less than 24 hours before we left!) my dad met Steven and gave him the ring they designed. On October 22nd we left and began driving to Milton, GA to see KJ. We had one night with her to go to dinner at our favorite restaurant (Jekyll Brewing - go if you are ever in Alpharetta!). But as one does in Atlanta, we hit traffic putting us to arrive after dark so we changed the plan a little and headed to the barn to check on the horses before dinner. Little did I know this plan worked better for KJ and Steven's planning. We got to the barn and KJ detoured me to the top barn. As we checked on horses and eventually made it to the lower barn I found Steven on one knee in the middle of the barn aisle, surrounded by roses, and with horses on both sides like out of a fairytale. It truly was a dream. They scratched every previous plan and rethought everything in less than 24 hours... and needless to say it was beyond perfect! What they thought of as a "backup plan" was everything I hoped for and more! We are so excited to share in this time and celebrate with you all soon!
