Jockey's Ridge State Park
State park with free admission. Expansive area to walk around and the best place to catch a sunset! Book a hang-gliding lesson at Kitty Hawk Kites across the bypass if you're feeling extra adventurous! Located at MP 12, right off the bypass.
Wright Brothers National Memorial
Check out the aviation history of the Wright Brothers' first successful flight! This sight is run by NPS and requires an entry fee. Located at MP 7.5, right off the bypass.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore
Over 70 miles of seashore extending from Bodie Island to Ocracoke Island. Aside from the famous Cape Hatteras and Bodie Island lighthouses, much of the coastline is empty and quiet. It's about an hour south of Nags Head.
Manteo
The small town of Manteo has many boutiques, restaurants, and other stores to walk around and visit. Located on Roanoke Island, downtown Manteo can be accessed via the US-64 bridge around MP 16.5.
Nags Head Golf Links
Interested in a round of golf? Play a round at this challenging links course in Nags Head. There are many other golf courses in the area, but this is the most central. Located at MP 15, right off the bypass.
Fish Heads Bar & Grill / OBX Pier
Located at MP 18.5, part of the Outer Banks fishing pier. Great place to grab a beer and fish sandwich on the beach. Rent a rod 'n reel for a small fee if you want to fish on the pier!
Duck / Corolla
Want to explore the northern Outer Banks? Duck and Corolla have plenty to do. Walk the boardwalk in Duck, see the Currituck lighthouse in Corolla, or book a wild horse tour! Duck is about 30 minutes and Corolla an hour north of Nags Head, respectively.
Swells'a Brewing Beer Company
We went here to celebrate the day after we got engaged! Swells'a is a laid back brewery with plenty of beers on tap. Located near MP 9.5 on the beach road (12).
Food Dudes Kitchen
A small, hole-in-the-wall place, serving delicious Carribean/Mexican inspired eats. Located at MP 9 on the beach road (12). After getting lunch drive half a mile down to Swells'a for a beer!
Tortugas Lie
One of the Leach family's favorite restaurants. Caribbean inspired eats, fresh seafood, and burgers are the best. Guy Fieri visited here on an episdoe of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! Located on MP 11.5 on the beach road (12).
Ocean Boulevard Bistro and Martini Bar
Looking for a fancy, sit down dinner? Ocean Boulevard features seafood and other meat dishes, as well as craft cocktails. Located on MP 2.5 on the beach road (12).
