We met while playing on the same beer league softball team, in September, 2017. Carly was impressed that Zach could continuously hit home runs over the fence with ease (being a college baseball player has its benefits) and Zach was impressed with Carly's athletic abilities- hitting line drives, sprinting around the bases, and throwing runners out in the infield. After a late game was over that season, Carly was heading out when Zach swooped in and ran to catch up with her to walk her to her car. Once he opened her car door for her, she knew he was a gentleman. Fun fact- Carly and Zach went to high school together (one year apart) and while they knew of each other, had never actually spoken. Come to find out, they grew up just a mile apart, which has made holidays VERY convenient. After that Fall night, they started hanging out and getting to know each other better. Quickly realizing how much they have in common they began spending every weekend together; going on dates, spending time with each other's friends/family, and going on lots of hikes. In 2018, Zach left for a three-week European vacation and while he was gone, (the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup for the first time, just saying) Carly realized how much she actually missed him and wanted to be with him. The feeling was mutual, and once Zach returned, the relationship became official. Fast forward to December 29, 2021 (after years of traveling, falling in love, living together for the first time, buying a house, & adding a puppy to the family), Zach proposed to Carly in the Outer Banks.
