Mike and Carly first locked eyes in the trauma bay at Hackensack University Medical Center — a very romantic setting, as you can imagine. Amid the busy energy of the hospital, Carly noticed Mike and immediately thought he was cute. Naturally, she did what any reasonable person would do: she asked her friend and chief resident, Nicole Hadjiloucas, to investigate. Nicole enthusiastically accepted the mission. Not long after, Nicole spotted Mike in the hallway outside the OR, flagged him down, and passed along Carly’s number. Mike didn’t waste any time. He texted Carly that very same day. Just two days later they went on their first date at The Roosevelt in East Rutherford, New Jersey. What started as a simple night out quickly turned into the perfect first date. Over Bees Knees cocktails and rolled ice cream, they talked and laughed for hours. 🍸🐝 Mike and Carly got engaged in Jersey City on a very frigid day in December of 2024. Mike had carefully planned a romantic afternoon with stops at cozy coffee shops and a few of their favorite spots around the city before ending up at the place where he would propose. Unfortunately for Mike’s well-crafted plan, Carly began complaining about the cold almost immediately after stepping out of the car. Realizing his carefully orchestrated itinerary was going to be cut short by the freezing temperatures, Mike quickly pivoted. He brought Carly straight to the fountain in Van Vorst Park, got down on one knee, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Completely surprised and overwhelmed with excitement, Carly promptly spilled her latte all over - but still managed to say yes.
