Carly and Dene’s story began back in freshman year of college (aka 2019). Carly had just graduated high school in Delaware, a class of only 50 students, while Dene had been randomly paired to live with one of her classmates. A small world moment that neither of them knew would change everything. That winter break, Dene tagged along with his roommate to a party in Delaware, where he met Carly for the very first time. They even snapped their first selfie together that night — the start of a friendship that would quietly shape the years ahead. Fast forward to sophomore year: Carly and Dene were both at a “Bagels and André” event between Sigma Kappa and Theta Chi. Dene asked Carly to be his wingwoman to help him talk to one of her best friends, and — in true Dene fashion — even tried to play matchmaker for Carly at the same time. Needless to say, neither of their matchmaking plans worked out, but their friendship continued to grow stronger. By senior year, Carly and Dene were still close. At the time, Carly was in a relationship… until one night, right after a breakup, she ran into Dene at Kate’s. Dene decided to take a chance and asked her to his bid night. Carly thought, why not? She knew she always had fun with Dene, and that his kindness and presence made him the perfect person to be with during a difficult time after her breakup. That night was a turning point. Over the next few months, something shifted - what had always been easy friendship started to feel like something deeper. When Dene was finally ready to make it official, he set an alarm for 7 a.m. (because of course he did) just to ask Carly to be his girlfriend. From that moment on, they’ve been inseparable - best friends turned partners for life, built on laughter, timing, and a little bit of fate.
