Located in the Pike National Forest, NW of Jefferson, CO off HWY 285. Jefferson Lake Recreation Area is a 182-acre alpine reservoir sitting at 10,700 feet. Can hike here, fishing, paddle-board, canoe… surrounded by striking 12,000-foot peaks. Day-use costs $11 per vehicle. We plan to spend Thursday morning & some of the afternoon paddling and relaxing here, for anyone wants to join. The lake is 35 minutes from the town of Fairplay & 23 from venue. *weather dependent we do this of course*

The Town of Fairplay celebrates the role of the burro in mining days of old with burro, llama, dog and outhouse races, a parade, arts, craft and food vendors, kid’s entertainment, cowboy church, live music and so much more! Awesome spot to hike up above the Town of Alma, about 10 minutes from Fairplay. Many flowers and two alpine lake From the Kite Lake Trailhead you can also access a more challenging hike - the Decalibron - summits three 14’er mountain peaks on it’s route.
