With steep walls of over 600 meters above the valley, the El Tepozteco Hill welcomes you to the Tepoztlán village. Start this adventure from the main street. Your destination, a pre-Hispanic settlement built between 1150 and 1350 AD in honor of Ometochtli Tepuztécatl, the god of pulque. Once you are back in the village, head to the Carlos Pellicer Archeological Museum, named after the poet who donated his pre-Hispanic pieces. The museum is located behind the Convent of the Nativity and houses an invaluable collection of objects including the piece of a statue of the ancient god Ometochtli Tepuztecatl, found in a nearby pyramid.
The actual ex convent was built by natives during the 16th Century and belonged to the Dominican order.
