When Carlos finished up a show, his sister, BetsyBelle wanted to take an impromptu trip to New Orleans. Carlos invited Jacob, but he was unavailable. Anel was offered a trip to NOLA by one of her best friends, Anahit. It became a fun girls trip which also included Jessica, a key connection as Carlos and his sister met her in Japan just two years before while staying with Jacob. They connected and decided to meet up outside of The Dungeon; a metal bar. And that's where the magic began, outside of a metal bar on Toulouse St. Carlos met Anel, Anel met Carlos. They connected over IPAs and horror films and the fact that they both grew up and lived in or around Reseda. A month after that, Carlos gave Anel his heart, metaphorically and almost literally, as he handed her a heart that came out of a jar filled with blood, and that's how they became an item. 1,927 days later, a new chapter unfolds.

Anel and Carlos planned to host a somewhat-regular-post-Covid-but-still-living-in-a-pandemic-so-it-will-have-to-stay-intimate Halloween Party with just a few friends. They put together drinks, food, decorations and their costumes (Anel was Black Widow; Carlos was Winter Soldier). Carlos had a little something extra up his sleeve. A game if you will, emulating the "Saw" movies, full of randomly received clues, items to search for, but minus the gore. Anel then receives her card from Jacob, one that tells her that her office and car keys are missing and that she will need to choose a weapon. Whilst choosing between a baseball bat, a machete, and a chainsaw, the victim that will undergo amateur surgery was then hung like a piñata right outside the shed. Anel swung away with a bat, before switching to chop and stab with a machete. She dug out her keys, and another clue, one telling to smile to the Photographer. A picture is taken and another envelope is handed to her. As she reads the card, her emotions start to come over her, as this card is more sentimental than the others. She is then asked to turn around, where she sees Carlos, walking up to bend the knee. After shouting an expletive, she said "YES!"
