It was a cold, ugly weather spring day in Chicago - a perfect day to find love. Carli had officially moved downtown that week and was happy to partake in a classic 20-somethings Chicago activity, 16-inch softball. Scott was, of course, thrilled to do anything that involved sports and drinking beer. Lucky for them a mutual friend, Codi, had set up a Thursday night drinking, err no softball, team. It only took a few innings before Carli realized that tall, super cute pitcher might be someone worth getting to know. It's safe to say the team's championship win wasn't the only success to come out of that season.
It was another crappy weather day in Chicago - a perfect day to propose outside. Scott had decided on a spot to propose and capture some city skyline photos with his new fiancee, but knew it was going to be tough getting Carli to the location. Scott asked Carli's best friend, Katie, to help come up with a plan and they decided they were going to fake an early birthday picnic in Grant Park. Carli became a little suspicious when the two of them decided to reschedule the picnic for the following day, despite another uncertain weather forecast. She took this opportunity to get her nails done and throw on the perfect sweater, in case he popped the question. Walking down the lakeshore path in the light rain with their beloved pup, Mochi, Scott got down on one knee (evidenced by the photos with a wet knee outline in his jeans) and asked Carli to marry him. During the often difficult, uncertain year that was 2020, Carli had never been more certain when she said 'Yes!'
