Carl and I met at church unbeknownst to me...I started taking my mother to a Theology class at Sovereign Grace Chapel where she later joined after we graduated from the year long class. I do remember someone asking to take our picture after the graduation but I didn’t remember him 🤷🏾♀️. After visiting the church on several occassions I did get a few opportunities to see him at a fellowship dinner and at church service. Carl shook my hand after service a little longer than normal a couple of times and one Sunday either Easter or Mother’s Day he asked if he could take me to dinner. I tried to get out of it by telling him I had to feed my family but he showed me the picture he had taken & was insistent offering to take the whole family to dinner!! Our first date was with my mom, daughter, and granddaughter 👀 We clicked instantly!
Although I was sick Carl came over to bring my Christmas gift. 😳 I wasn’t expecting to see him for several reasons... he worked the holiday, I had been sick almost two weeks, and I was still awaiting my COVID-19 test results, etc. He had inquired about what was open to pick up some food after getting off work so I tried to assist him in getting a bite to eat that I assumed he would be taking home. We typically talk on his drive to/from work so it was not out of the ordinary but when he showed up at my door playing music (KEM - Don’t Lie to Me) I was shocked and didn’t notice the song he was playing!! I tried to grab the gift and close the door but he came inside to eat 😱 ... I was not prepared for that- I looked a hot mess and had to get a mask to put on! I kept asking him what he was doing - He came over, got on one knee, and proposed! I said Yes but I think I was still confused because I don’t remember the exact words but I was upset I couldn’t hug him. He gave me an elbow tap before leaving 😔... not the most romantic but I was reminded that it was a perfect way to begin “In SICKNESS & In health”!! ❤️ 😍
