The Towers are all the remain of the Narragansett Pier Casino, which back in the 1890s was at the heart of a thriving vacation destination ranked as one of America's premier summer resorts. In 1900, the adjacent Rockingham Hotel caught fire, and the flames quickly consumed all the surrounding buildings, leaving The Towers to stand by themselves. Since then, The Towers have been subject to another fire, countless nor-easters, and the hurricanes of 1938, 1954, and 1991, which inflicted severe damage to the surrounding buildings while they held fast. Today The Towers are utilized for special events, and they greet guests to the area as a symbol of the town's history and perseverance.
