Carla and Bryan first met virtually in 2020 through mutual membership in the 501st Legion Star Wars costuming club. They spent the next year as part of a tight knit friend group, spending time together hiking, playing tennis, and countless virtual hangouts. Having planned a group hike at Bear Mountain, their friend’s “flat tire” left Carla and Bryan to spend the day alone together. The next day, Bryan called and asked Carla out for their first date at Faubourg in Montclair. They lost track of time, spending hours talking until the restaurant closed for the evening. Over the next four and a half years, Carla and Bryan would move in together in Hewitt, NJ along with their pets Hans, Korben, and Mouse. They have traveled together to Iceland, Disney, California, and Montreal. They regularly ‘troop’ together, donning their Star Wars costumes for various charities and events. On May 26, 2024, during their annual summer party, Bryan surprised Carla by getting down on one knee and proposing in front of their family and friends. They look forward to their nuptials and celebrating on August 15th, 2026 at Camp Sacajawea in Sparta, NJ.
