Beach & Bob Marley

July 24th, 2009

We met as ‘kids’ 12 years ago in South Carolina on our way to Seabrook Island. Our mutual friends had planned a weekend beach trip and both of us were invited. The next day, on the beach, a Bob Marley song that we both love started playing and Daniel said: “I’m going to dance this song with my future wife on my wedding day.” Fireworks flew for Caroline & the rest is history…

The proposal

May 28, 2021

Fast forward almost 12 years and our relationship now reached one of the best days of our lives: Our engagement. Daniel told me he wanted to do something special for our daughter Giovanna, to celebrate the end of her first all virtual school year. All Giovanna and I knew was that we had to be ready by six PM on that Friday afternoon. When I got home he told me that if it started raining, there was a possibility that what he had planned could not be done. As I headed upstairs to get ready it started pouring, so I put on some jeans and assumed we were only going to dinner at that point. He then comes down the stairs and is all dressed up, so Giovanna and I made sure we were dressed up as well. We left the house and it was as if it had never rained at all. He asked us if we knew what we were doing and both of us said no. He drove to Waxhaw and parked in front of someones house. A man comes out, introduces himself and asks if we like horses. Giovanna and I both said yes but looked at eachother so confused… we had heels on. The man took us in his golf cart to what looked like a stable. He parked next to a beautiful red helicopter and then I started to get nervous. The man said: “here it is: 485 horses” (horsepower). In my head I thought that this could be a proposal but also didn’t want to think it was and make it about me, when Daniel had told me it was a suprise for Giovanna. While on the air, Giovanna got to fly the helicopter and it was just such an amazing experience. We got to see the city that we all love, the city where our love had flourished, from a different perspective and it was so perfect. As we started circling downtown Charlotte, he pulls put a ring and asks me to marry him. I was so nervous that I didn’t even say yes, I took the ring from the box and put it on myself. When the pilot told me I never said yes or no, I said YES!!!
