PXM = Airport code for Puerto Escondido (Puerto Escondido is located in the state of Oaxaca) OAX = Airport code for Oaxaca City (Oaxaca City is the capital of the state of Oaxaca). For people coming from the US east coast, there is a new flight route that just opened on United Airlines, they only fly to PXM on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: Newark, NJ (EWR) - Houston, TX (IAH) - Puerto Escondido, OAX (PXM) Alternatively there much easier flights from the US into OAX, which is a 2.5h drive from Puerto Escondido. Dasha and I will be flying in from IAH (Houston) to PXM on Thursday morning 11/13 Please note: Puerto Escondido does not have uber/lyft. Taxis or rental cars are the only options. Most taxis only accept Mexican pesos (MXN) so it's recommended to have cash on hand when arriving. Average taxi fare should be less than 200 MXN ($10 USD).

Travel Note

Places of interest

Puerto Escondido is technically two small beach towns combined into one and separated by a bridge. In terms of actual beaches, Carrizalillo and Puerto Angelito are the two main local ones. In terms of places to walk around, Zicatela is the main street in Puerto Escondido, and also La Punta is a fun, lively, hippy-eske vibe of many restaurants, bars, and places to check out. Walking around Zicatela and La Punta is safe, but as always, it's recommended you walk in well lit areas, and take taxis back to your hotel/lodging. Always have some pesos on hand for the taxis, but outside of them you should be able to use a credit card at most places.
