Travel Note
Not used to flying? Well, buckle up! It's a 9-14 hour flight experience to get to Europe (depending on which state you leave from and how many stops you must make). We recommend flying into either Naples (NAP) or Rome (FCO), given they both have major airports and are well connected to other destinations.
Flight
Naples-Capodichino International Airport will get you the closest to the coast and is a lovely hub for visiting most of the southern half of Italy. Search airport code NAP.
Travel Note
If you choose to take the train (cheapest option): From the Naples Airport, the cheapest way to get to the train station is by taking the Alibus. You can take a taxi (€30-40) or Uber (€130-150), but it is such a short drive that it's not worth the cost (in our opinion). You can book your Alibus ticket online when you arrive. Exit the bus at the Piazza Garibaldi station.
Train
The train is the cheapest way to get to the Amalfi Coast. You will want to get yourself to the Stazione di Napoli Centrale, Naples' main train station. Take the elevator down to level -1 and follow signs for E A Vesuvia. Walk all the way to the end of the hall where you will find the ticket counter to purchase tickets to Sorrento. NOTE: You must have EXACT CHANGE IN EURO for your tickets - around €4 per person. Trains run about every 30 minutes and it's about a 1 hour and 10 minute ride. DON'T FORGET TO VALIDATE YOUR TRAIN TICKET BEFORE BOARDING! NOTE: You may also choose to hire a car. The ride is around an hour and this is obviously the most costly option.
Travel Note
Expect to walk most places unless you are staying somewhere far outside the main square. It is typically a 15-minute walk to most places. It is very safe to walk around, but cobblestone streets will make things like strollers and high heels a challenge. We do NOT recommend renting a car as the streets are very narrow and winding and parking is very challenging.
Travel Note
We will be staying in Sorrento instead of Positano as it is cheaper and more easily walkable. We HIGHLY recommend getting an AirBnB for the most authentic experience and to get to enjoy the abundant hospitality of the people of Sorrento. You can reserve multi-bedroom accommodations (even entire villas!) and share with others if you want something economical. Hotels in Sorrento vary greatly in price, but we have included a couple of suggestions below. NOTE: Most AirBnBs charge a separate tax of a few Euro per night (read your AirBnB guidelines closely). This is not a scam and will likely be collected upon arrival in cash. SECOND NOTE: Many accommodations don't open their booking dates for the following season until after the holidays. If you have your eye on a place that says there is no availability, contact them or check back in January.

Mid-Range Hotel Option - This hotel is in the heart of town and offers free breakfast and an airport shuttle can be arranged from the Naples Airport (if you didn't want to take the train, it's about an hour drive).
