Forever Begins

Cari : We met at a bar through a friend, I am proud to say that we did not meet online. Darien: It was a Thursday night and a friend was having a rough time. So I ditched the normal routine and we headed to my favorite bar. When we ordered I was told my friends were already there, so of course we moved seats. I didn’t expect to be introduced to the love of my life and I swear time slowed down. I never thought I would believe in Love at first sight, but that’s really the only way I can explain it all.

Darien: As we got closer and had been hanging out with mutual friends, I knew I wanted to ask her out and was so nervous because I wasn’t sure she would want to. It happened to be Valentine’s Day and a friend was going out of town and we had planned to all meet up later when they got back in town. I asked if she wanted to go to dinner and a movie and she said yes! I wanted to be courteous so we saw a movie she wanted to see, unfortunately titled “How To Be Single”. Not the best date movie, if it were up to me we would have seen Deadpool! She didn’t realize it was a date until I wouldn’t allow her to pay for anything at the very end.... luckily it all worked out!

Cari: While getting ready for Maui I was thinking "ok, maybe he will finally ask me" But also not getting my hopes up. We had been there for several days, and I could tell he was looking. We saw a comerciall on TV for a Valentines Day sale. I asked him to check it out (so I could prove to him that it didn't take much to make me happy). The next day we were in the store looking at rings. I narrowed it down to a few that I liked then noticed our parking was about to expire. At this point my hopes were high. I told him that I was going to get the car, and what he did next was on him. As I was walking back to the car, I was thinking to myself "that was crazy, and stupid. We are in the most expensive state in the country and haven't done any research. no way he would buy a ring here". Darien: First, second, or third time? The first time definitely didn’t count as we were very drunk on out first New Year’s Eve. I thought it would be a good idea to propose without a ring during the fireworks downtown. The second time was the real deal. We were in Maui for a vacation, I wanted to find the perfect spot on the Road to Hana, unfortunately it was a crazy downpour. So that was shot. It was also the same night we had to pack. I knew she would be stressed. I wanted to do it that night because it was Valentine’s Day, and also the anniversary of our first date. Once things settled down I played one of our songs and told her I needed at least one dance before the day was officially over. I actually didn’t get a chance to speak lol, she said everything I had planned. And said it better than I could have, so I reached in my bag to get the ring and proposed. The third time was more recent. We knew we wanted to exchange her ring for one that fit better with a wedding set. she didn’t know I brought it home. I took the ring from my pocket as I asked her if she still wanted to marry me with all the craziness going on in our lives right now. Thankfully she said yes all three times.
