Curtis and Kayla first met at Waters Edge Church through a mutual friend who volunteered with Curtis. Curtis had noticed Kayla during worship and asked the friend for more information, saying he wanted to get to know Kayla better. They started out as friends, spending time learning about each other and building a strong connection. Over seven months, that friendship grew. They began sitting together at church, going on runs, grabbing dinner, and even meeting for coffee—despite Curtis not being much of a coffee fan. As they spent more time together, it became clear there was something special between them. After traveling to HYROX DC in March of 2025 together and being each other's biggest cheerleaders, they decided to take the next step and start dating. What began as a simple introduction turned into a beautiful journey.
