It is true what they say; life really can change in an instant. One moment you may think that things can’t get any messier, any more confusing, or any more weird. Well let us tell you, folks, it can always get more weird. Cara had just finished her second college degree, thanks to credit cards and a single room rental. She had just accepted a seat in a Ph.D. Program at WSU, complete with fellowship grant, and was planning on cashing in on a trailer to live in for the summer before driving cross country for the big move. That is when one of her dear friends, Michelle, insisted that she and Bashiba stay with her family for the summer instead... Evan wasn’t sure what life direction he wanted to pursue after the closing of the company where he and his Dad had worked for so many years. He had been competing his B.A. while working full time. He put the degree on hold to remodel the apartment on his family’s property in Berkley, MA and do a little soul searching. He had learned carpentry from his father and grandfathers, and had become an accomplished hobby craftsman. After spending some time on the remodel, he achieved his CDL and a new job through his good friend Rick at the family construction company. Cara had always admired the work Evan did at Michelle and Erik’s home in Carver, MA but had yet to meet the man behind it. Evan will be the first to admit that his first love was actually Bashiba; they enjoyed many naps on the Hammer couch before he ever met the girl behind that perfect dog! When we finally met it didn’t take long before it just felt right. We share a love for animals, the outdoors, crafts, home improvement and self-sufficiency. In less than three years, we have developed a flock of poultry, rescued numerous farm animals, raised a dog and said farewell to another. We grow our own food and dream of someday owning a large farm where we can live off grid and foster a lifestyle of sustainability and environmental consciousness. We are a true love story!
