After a quick swipe right and a couple days of chatting, it was time for their first date at Cambridge’s, Little Donkey. Mark had just returned home from his cousin's bachelor party in New Orleans, and while he was there Cara had mentioned her childhood love for their traditional Mardi Gras King Cakes. To seal the first date, Mark (suspiciously) carried a surprise King Cake through TSA and onto the plane back to Boston. Since food is the way to Cara's heart, the rest is history. They now live in Charlestown with their beloved Swissy, Nellie.
On September 12, 2020 Cara grabbed a quick lunch with friend, Paige. What she didn’t realize was that her lunch was a set-up. Upon returning home, Cara noticed a bouquet of flowers sitting in the entry way to their apartment. From there, Mark sent her on a scavenger hunt journey across their apartment and neighborhood that ended with Cara climbing Charlestown’s “Forty Flights” to say “yes!”. The excitement continued with a surprise celebration with their family and closest friends.
Since day one, Maine has held a special place in Cara’s heart. With deep family roots in the Kittery area, she spent summers boating, mudding, and steaming lobsters. It was no surprise how quickly Cara was able to turn Mark into a “Mainer” with frequent trips to Spruce Creek and 4th of Julys in Kennebunkport. The Maine coast is their happy place, and they can’t wait to share it with you all!
