We first met through our mutual friends, Kevin and Brittany Land. In between deployments to the Middle East, John would stay with Kevin when he was home, and that's where he first met Erin. They first only interacted in passing, while John and Kevin were hanging out in the garage, and Erin and Brittney were in the same Bible Study group in the living room. They became closer friends at the Land's Christmas get-together a month later, and remained friends for the next year and a half. God had some tough chapters ahead for these two. June 9th, 2021, John was getting ready to move back to Ohio, and Kevin and Brittney decide to have a going away party for him at their house to say goodbye. John had additional plans. That night, he confessed all of his feelings for Erin, and told her how he had been paying attention to her from a distance over the last year and a half and that he thought she was special, rare, and a gift from God. The next day they went on a date, and then he left for Ohio. Over the next year, they began a long distance relationship and traveled back and forth between Ohio and California. In June of 2022, Erin moved to Ohio to be with John and his daughter, Fiona, and son, Kellan. On July 21st, 2023 John made it official and asked the love of his life to be his wife.
