We have known each other since 2019 and did not realize our mutual feelings for each other until the pandemic hit about a year later. We graduated high school together that year and have been together ever since! We sadly do not have a cute first date story to share with everyone seeing as everything around us was shut down during that time…regrettably, our first date was most likely the McDonalds drive-thru. Still, we wouldn’t change our story if we could. We have built quite a life for ourselves, our Bernese Mountain Dog, Leo, and our Bernedoodle, Charlie...and we will continue to do just that!
Joey worked his tail off to surprise me, because that’s pretty difficult to do. We got engaged July 29, 2023 at Ault Park. No, my nails were not done and no, I wasn’t all dolled up…I would have known what was going on! We had just recently celebrated Joey’s birthday and someone gifted him a Texas Roadhouse gift card. We thought we may as well use the gift card on our date night. I had told Joey about the new Jeni’s Ice Cream (in Factory 52, where we later took our engagement photos). Jeni’s is one of my favorite ice cream shops so the plan was to head there after dinner. On our way, Joey suggested we stop by Devou Park to walk around, I didn’t question this as we love to be outside. We drove around a little and left. I can now conclude that Joey couldn’t find the perfect spot. We grabbed our Jeni’s after waiting in the longest line ever…Joey had some real patience here, I don’t know how he did it! Then he suggested we go walk around Ault Park. I think Joey liked this spot more because this was somewhere that I knew my way around, I would have caught on if he started leading me somewhere! I led him to a secluded spot that he obviously thought was perfect since I had wanted the moment to be private and intimate. He did a beautiful job and truly did surprise me, which makes it a thousand times more special for us!
