FAQs

Question

How long is the reservation at Kinblethmont?

Answer

Check-in is Wednesday the 3rd, and we get to stay for a week! Check-out is Wednesday the 10th, and everyone is free to either go catch flights home or continue their journey in the UK.

Question

What should I do about flights?

Answer

We realize that many of our guests plan to stay in the UK after our stay at Kinblethmont comes to a close on Wednesday, June 10th. We think that it may be easiest for everyone to book their own travel from their own origin city on June 2nd, arriving at Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) the following morning of June 3rd (these flights to Scotland are almost always overnight). Accommodation at the wedding venue will be for one week, checkout being the morning of Wednesday the 10th.

Question

What should we do about vehicle rental?

Answer

It is likely that having a rental car or van will be best so that everyone has the freedom and flexibility to come and go as they please. There is plenty of parking at Kinblethmont, and this might be the best option for those who would like to take excursions whenever we aren’t participating in wedding business. I do plan to rent a couple large occupancy vehicles for group excursions.

Question

What will we do about meals?

Answer

Kinblethmont has 2 full kitchens and plenty of cooler storage space! Our idea is to have a couple people be in charge of lunches and dinners each day. My mother-in-law-to-be, Deb, will be arranging meal plans and asking everyone when they would like to help out.

Question

What are the room assignments?

Answer

We have rented the whole big house, as well as the surrounding cottages. Cassie is working on room assignments and keeping people’s mobility and privacy in mind. There are a few single friends coming, and I will reach out separately to discuss doubling up (this will be necessary to make room for everyone!) There are some shared bathrooms, as well.

Question

Are there things I need to bring?

Answer

Yes! In the UK, the voltage is much higher than the voltage from our outlets in the US. In order to charge electronics and use things like curling irons, make sure you have an adapter or two. Do NOT bring a hairdryer (or your Dyson AirWrap!!) unless it is marked as being ‘Dual Voltage’ (eg INPUT AC 120V-240V). The UK outlets have a voltage of between 230 and 240, which will fry a hair dryer and burn up the motor.
