Where should I stay?

There are a TON of hotels that charge high summer tourist season rates. You may want to consider a local "Airbnb" in the area. Depending on what you're looking for, they can be much cheaper and accommodate families better than a hotel room. However, Anchorage is a big city, and some neighborhoods would be less safe than others. I would avoid Mountain View and Fairview. The neighborhood of "Spenard" can be hit and miss, but since it is very close to the airport you will find a lot of Airbnb's nearby. If you have a question about a location, feel free to ask!
