We met at the ripe old age of 11 in the dreaded and awkward middle school years. Miles was popular, a jock, and a comedian that every one knew and Camryn... well she was quiet and awkward. Miles was dating Camryn's friend, they were acquaintances but nothing more. Camryn and Miles then ended up at the same high school. One fall evening at a football game during their sophomore year, they ended up sitting next to each other. They hit it off right away, they didn't end up watching any football that night. Miles asked for Camryn's number. As the sophomore year progressed their relationship didn't, other "interests ", dance, sports, and school got in the way. However their connection never faded, it was undeniable even from a distance. Smiles passing in the hallways, giggles in the quad at lunch, and long gazes at each other in class. Fate soon brought them together once again. The summer going into their senior year they took a group camping trip to celebrate their soon to be senior status. They quickly reconnected over the camp fire, staying up all night, talking, laughing and shared their first kiss in the bed of Miles' truck, under the stars. As cheesy as it sounds we can both attest to major fireworks, an electric kiss that started it all and as you know.... the rest is history. 10 years later and we are so excited to finally tie the knot!
We have a tradition of bringing in the New Year by taking a hike to a vista point before the sun rises, we have been to several different places around the bay area and we start the New Year with the first sunrise of the year together. This year was no different or so I thought. We went to Bimbo's in San Francisco the night before and danced the night away to Tainted Love. Feeling a little hungover and exhausted at 5:30am New Years morning, I was hating this "tradition" but Miles was very persistent and dragged me out of bed. We drove over the Golden Gate bridge and took the first exit onto Conzelman Rd., the whole drive I'm complaining and saying "where are we going?!", "why are we going so far?!". We ended up at the Golden Gate View Point near the Marin Headlands, the same place Miles took me 9 year earlier to give me my promise ring before I went off to college and we would do 4 years of long distance. I started getting butterflies in my stomach but was trying not to get ahead of myself since I had read into pretty much every other situation thinking "this is it!" and then it wasn't. After 9 years together it can drive a girl a little crazy waiting for the "big moment". Miles brothers Chris and Spencer and their girlfriends Katie and Maria where there to join us for the sun rise and be our photographers. It was one chilly morning all of us bundled up in our winter gear, patently waiting for the sun to rise and for the San Francisco fog to burn off to see the sun. 30 minutes later the sun finally made its 2017 debut. I was busy taking pictures and enjoying the gorgeous view, when Miles hugged me from behind and whispered in my ear "Happy New Year's Camryn, this year is going to be our year and I'm so excited. I love you so much and can't imagine life with out you." He kneels down on one knee and pulls out the ring and says "Will you marry me?". I am in shock, I couldn't believe it was finally happening to me! I finally get my bearings and said "Yes!".
